Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Carrick on a free? Get 12 months out of him and it's a great signing.

Big yes from me.

He can be our Regista - his eye for a long ball can add another twist to our counter attacking game. We've seen this season the way that Spurs have benefitted from that tactic.
Replacing who, Barry?

Replacing a 35 year old with a 34 year old, with the added benefit of the 34 year old being injury prone at this point anyway?

?!

...actually we do. He's an exceptional player. Intercepts well and conducts play from deep to turn pressure into attack.

On a free transfer? There'll be a queue round the block for that signature.

He'll be 35 and he's no better than Barry.

Don't need him

I see the Lennon, Cleverly and Mori are all crap, brigade are, some say they will stop supporting if he signs.
From what I have read there combined football knowledge can be written on a postage stamp.
If you want to reply, do not waste your time.
I am sick of reading the constant negativity and the general bile being excreted on this site, not just on this thread.
My son was right, do not use so called fans websites that full of football gamers.
It would be soul destroying for them if we do win the cup.
Oh and Carrick would be a great signing, mind you Barry was also on the crap register, how did that work out.
Fools!

We signed Barry when he was 3 years younger then Carrick is now and also barry is fitter then carrick.

Forget the age. I'm talking about the next 12 months. He's played 34 games this season, so no problem there.
He finished at this level
Van Gaal describes him as his manager on the pitch.

Different game than Barry. More influential going forward. His passes are almost all in that direction.
True. Was just about to say that he would be quality signing

He is a great player. We could be linked to Messi and people would moan about it to have a go at Martinez.

People never learn.

Carrick would be ok as long as it's alongside some big names. I don't think he's a target to replace Barry but rather to compliment him and rotate with him. He's probably more a replacement for Gibson, who unfortunately has not shown himself a viable option for a midfield place this season.

We badly lack experience on the pitch at times. Neville used to provide this for us, in spite of all the hate there was towards him. Barry and his role he played with Costa was pivotal and you see how much we missed him last week against Arsenal. Having another player with such experience will only benefit us and help players like Barkley and Besic out.

Everytime I have seen Carrick this season he has been fantastic. Really shepherded a young United side. Does this sound familiar to our requirements?

There are enough legs, and attacking quality in the side elsewhere for at times both Barry and Carrick to play. We also have to bare in mind we have Ledson and Walsh who will be ready soon as well as Besic to come through. So giving us another 12 months will be ok.

It is not a glamorous signing but he would make a huge difference to us on the field and off the field alongside Barry. If we move on Gibson it's a definite yes.

I imagine the Carrick rumour has come about due to how poor we were against arsenal without the experience of Barry in midfield. Having another leader in the dressing room and someone to rotate with Barry to keep them both fresh can only be a good thing for me. McCarthy or Besic next to Barry or Carrick looks solid and well balanced.

Fair enough, I'll go along with this.

Fickle bar steward, me

And also the club (& manager) that has let him down so badly despite having the 'best squad in 25 years'. To think we've somehow managed to perform worse than last season really is a miracle. Lukaku has scored 25 goals, and what's the club (& manager) done? They've ensured that his goals merely mean we avoid relegation. Shocking.

Have his team mates not been more influential on the poor results at Goodison....or did they play no part? How has the Club as an entity let him down this season? Was not painting the bogs or not having bigger hot dogs a big bearing on his apparent desire to leave?

So today we awake to reading Lukaku to Man Utd and Carrick to Everton.
Once again. Everton being their feeder club and then receiving their washed up, or not good enough, players.

NO MORE!

This is the new Everton.

No swearing please

Imagine Barry & carrick in our midfield next season [Poor language removed] me.
Embarrassing what are we like a retirement home for city and Utd players

Let's start thinking big and show some ambition. Look at the 2 teams top of the table, young hungry aggressive midfields full of running
