I'm just not at all comfortable shipping out a large sum of money to the RS mate for what is an average striker unless the system is entirely geared towards suiting him. He hasn't really progressed at all since that first season at Villa - four years ago...
I too would think Schneiderlin would be a great signing, but personally I can only think that the story would be paper talk (I mean, it is the metro) based purely on the fact he's started to look back to his usual self lately and is now a pretty relaible starter for them.

Remember tipping Batshuayi in some thread saying we should buy him about 2-3 seasons ago - my research was immense - googled the Belgium under 21 squad saw he started for them and reckoned he must be boss as Belgium produce some top strikers - yeah still gonna take credit for it as a super scout though!

Schneiderlein is a cracking player whose been badly underused so far by United - then again as for being a realistic target - dunno about that - didn't they pay 28m for him and he's already on 100k per week at them.
Main problem for him at United is he has been getting played more often as not as the defensive holding mid for them hasn't he?
For me anyway a Schneiderlein or Witsel type of player would seriously improve our midfield - although both need to be played alongside a much more defensive type to get the best out of them, but really neither would suit the system we play - because any centre mid who isn't a defensive midfielder really won't get much of a look in under the current manager - it's why in many ways until it is sorted for definite if he's staying or going then it's much harder to think about what players we need...
But anyway, the likes of Schneiderlein, Witsel, Yarmolenko are the type of players we should be going for - just about at the top level we could attract as none of them are 'superstar' type players, but all 3 are quality, and with the right age and experience to blend with a relatively youthful core of the team

Benteke not improved due to his injuries over the last 3 seasons. He was out for 7 months due to a ruptured achilles tendon. He seems to have not got back to his best. His goal record is not shabby but like you i wouldn't pay big money for him but he is being treated like crap by klopp.
