Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

For all the money the club has thrown around, the best players are the younger ones that have mostly cost small outlays.

I hope we unearth another of this level.

Still a bit disappointed we didn't buy Maddison for £20m, rather than spend £45m on Gylfi who was at his absolute peak.

Goal keeper stats are often deceptive though mate. You often see keepers at the lower level of the league with high save percentages, its often because they have more to do.

Not saying Pickford isnt prone to a clanger and he will dissapointed with some of his performances, but generally i find that with goal keeper stats.
Surely a high save % for a keeper facing more shots is even better?

Save 7 of 10 shots for 70% or save 70 of 100 shots for 70%?

Allison and Schmeichel are first and second with Kepa in last, so I trust it I have to say.

We'd already bought Sigurdsson, the next summer is when Maddison went to Leicester.

Think it's genuinely funny how people are arguing realistic and compelling points about which position is needed the most because everyone really si right. IMO, CM is the most pressing because Schneiderlein we know, Sigurdsson is crap, Davies is...something, I don't even know what he offers. That's it. Gomes is coming back from a MASSIVE injury but has shown to be very hot/cold. RW absolutely needs improving too as Sidibe/Theo is woeful. CB is also an issue as Holgate and Mina have shown to be good together but, after that, it gets dicey quickly. Coleman really has started to show his age this year. And Pickford is a calamity over the last couple seasons.

So, our only "needs" is CM/RW/RB/CB/GK. Right. Not a big ask haha

I know Maddison was 12 months later, but we still overpayed on a player who was overpriced and not going to improve.

Wouldn’t read too much into Carlo’s comments about only needing another 3 players.
Not like he’s going to come out mid-way through the season and say “half my players are crap”.

I think he's maybe talking about 3 top quality players with 1 or 2 other additions. A RM, a CM and CB are priority for me.

If we had to sacrifice signing a new CM to permanently sort out RB and RM I’d be happy going into next season with Gomes, JPG, Davies and Delph/Schneids. We could possibly loan in that position though.
I'd rather go with Kenny and a new CM than spend on RB
If we are bringing in 3 players it has to be one of these. We can't go another season with one actual RW and 3 CBs, so the sacrifice either has to be central midfield and right back. Hard to say which is better until we see Gbamin play.

We may bring in Gibson as 4th CB.

That doesn’t surprise me at all.
We have FFP limitations and a lot of unshiftable players.
I reckon one major buy, and anything else would have to be made up from player trading. Perhaps one or two cheap purchases for the U23s.

I would far rather see quality over quantity.
You do realise that managers don’t always tell the truth about transfer plans don’t you
He is hardly going to come out and say
A We are skint and can’t buy anyone
B. We are loaded and buying 6 first teamers
Let’s see what the summer brings
