Newcastle United prepare £12m move for Everton midfielder Tom Davies

Everton midfielder Tom Davies is a target for Newcastle United. Manager Steve Bruce is a big admirer of the 22-year-old and has asked his club to make a £12million move this summer.

We'ed give them £12 mil ?

If we are only meant to be bringing in a few players, they should be 2 CM and a RW. Everything else is OK at best but CM is absolutely diabolical.

Centre midfield is crucial. 2 players needed. After that, RW, CB, RB, and maybe GK. Any of those bolstering the squad are a bonus.
But, I won't breathe a sigh of relief until 2 first choice CM's are signed.

That's a bit disingenuous considering the "Big 6" wasn't a thing until Spurs and City started regularly finishing in CL spots.

Our revenues dropped, our wage bill didn't by the same amount.

This is the problem when you want to sell everybody, the money we get wont replace them.

Lets say we sell Davies as well.

Big difference and hopefully one or two of them sold as well and we bring in 2 new centre midfielders.

And as I said the other day, just cos we bid for numerous players, it doesn't mean we will buy them all.

We will buy players this window, but I doubt we spend a vast sum.

I can only talk about things I know of and for me that's Premier League only.

Fernandinho 35 yrs old, signed for Man City 7 years ago at the age of 28 for £34 million ( thats over 100 mil with crazy footie inflation in todays money )
9 months younger than Allan then.

If we got 6 years out of Allan and we were successful enough to challenge at the top & keep most of our better players , would you not consider that good business ?

I would, I also question how likely that is to happen. I mean City had just won the title when they did the Fernandinho thing.

I think my favourite reason someone offered for keeping Davies this summer was that he is good friends with DCL and Holgate.

Its similar at CB where we had Holgate, Mina, Keane and then brought Branthwaite in as a 4th option. Id try and sell everyone bar Gbamin and bring 3 replacements in.

Failing that then yeah Gbamin + Gomes + 2 more new players.
