We need a left-footed CB really, with pace and power to play a high line.

Silva is neither of those things. He's 36. He'd be on massive wages.

He's nowhere near the player he was. Yes, still good. But we really don't need to be getting in these old free agents who would be our highest earners, do we.

Even if I accept things are slow for various reasons on incomings we need to be making strides on shifting the dead weight either sales or at least loans(Besic, Bolasie, Sandro, Tosun et al) and arguably other saleable assets (Kenny, Davies, Keane?) we need to get that wage bill down to reinvest.

Thiago Silva, even for the season, would be the best centre back that most of us have ever seen in a blue shirt.
We're talking world class level. If you don't think a current CL Semi-Finalist centre back would improve us then I don't know what people have been watching.
Genuinely think people under-appreciate the difference in level between CL teams and us. Most CL teams from most of the top countries will absolutely wipe the floor with us. Lyon, RBL included. We're that far off. PSG would utterly embarrass us.

He's exactly the calibre and profile of player we need to come in and change the rotten, losing, small time culture of the club.
