Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Would be quite something to nail all of Allan, Doucoure, and James. There always seems to be one that gets away each year.

Be interesting to see what outgoings there are, if we were to be able to afford all three of them, and surely if we were to add to that number of signings, it would be loans and frees only.

this wont be the popular opinion i have sympathy for Gomes, Gylfi, and Davies
You're not alone.
My opinion will also be unpopular but I would keep all three and trust in them.
I believe Davies isn't as bad as some make out but I agree that he's more of a filler than first team. He's still young and will improve.
I don't think Gomes is as slow as some make out and I'm more than happy he plays for my club. He needs good players around him though and hopefully our new signings will be just that.
And lastly and probably the most unpopular, I think Sigurdsson was pretty good (in the number 10 role) but he's been played out of position a lot and even admitted himself that he has struggled in a deeper role. He's not blameless however, and has looked uninterested and played below par but he's not alone in that.
I would keep him and use him for games that we can mix it up a bit and play to his strengths - thinking cup games and against so called lesser opponents.

So you'd keep Davies because he's not as bad as others make out and will improve because he's young (despite getting progressively worse in the last 2 years)... You don't think Gomes is as slow as others have said and Gylfi has looked uninterested when played out of position, but the manager rarely plays a formation that includes his favoured position...

Not a glowing midfield report is it?

Definitely not. Ramsey is on insane money at Juve and we don’t need him.
Exactly, it’s not even that he’s too good for us or a world star because he is very average it’s literally just a combination age and ability, half the player of James for double the wage.

I hope the players we are linked with will see a more efficient and cohesive team take shape next season.
I am not sure whether the side will contain enough pace though still. I hope we can sign the targets the manager has identified, which appear to be James, Doucoure and Allan. I would like us to add someone like Bailey or Sarr though if possible. An out and out pace man could be devastating in a team of technically sound players.
