Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Interesting listening to the county road bobblers podcast, with El pivote and the Esk. Now I know El pivote knows more about how transfers work and agents abd clubs than me. And the Esk in terms of finances. But both think this virus is bad news for us as we are already struggling to get rid of our deadwood.

But me ( with my positive blue hat on) thinks it may actually work in our favour. Especially if they relax FFP. If you take Allan from Napoli, who’s been linked, just say Ancelotti wanted him in January, rumour has it Allan had fall out with the owner and wanted out.

So Napoli want 40/45mil to offset it we try and get rid of Schneiderlin and want 15mil, which no one is paying. So basically a 25/30mil swing on that transfer.

So now we cut the price for Schneiderlin by half to 7/8 mil I know there still his wages to get round, but for that price I’m sure that would be a few takers. And from what I’ve read Napoli May accept 20/25 mil for Allan now, so the swing is now roughly 15mil.

I know it’s not that straight forward, but my point is that the players we want will cost a lot more than the rubbish we want rid of, so maybe it will work in our favour, with potentially 30%+ coming off fees.

Old Esky chats utter bubbles. Has been wrong repeatedly since his inception as a ITK. You'll get more sense out of a gang of squirrels. x

I like Andy and Paul but I'm not sure I agree with their narrative. It remains equally as hard to get rid of the deadwood. If there is a salary cut maybe some possibilities open up, but in essence it's moved from highly difficult to impossible.

The hit for the club is that for several of the younger players, they will have had probably 40% of value wiped off them. If we were planning to sell any of them to fund transfers then that will now be far more difficult. If however Usmanov/Moshiri are willing to invest and keep the tap on, help sustain in in lieu of sales then it works out well for us. Buying players will be a lot cheaper.

I think by the time this is done we get Allan for probably 15 million down and the rest in add ons.

Taxi driver!

I kid, I kid, think he works for Swansea as a data scout or something, could be wrong like.

Does he yeah fair enough still not having him some transfer guru though.

60,000 Arsenal fans couldn’t wait to see the back of Iwobi and we’ve got him telling us he passes the ball into the box more than any other player though.

I suppose it just goes to show, data is not everything. But I also quite like listening to him, as will know more about some of the foreign players we are linked with and how they would likely fit into Ancelotti’s 442.

You say that like an attacker trying to get the ball into the box is a bad thing:Blink:

About 60mils worth of fees there for two players that wouldn’t get near the squads of any other top 8 side

obviously I would prefer players like Maddison / Grealish or Zaha, but i think they are impossible for us tho

In open play Ward-Prowse is far better than Gomes... also as Gylfi should go, he could take freekicks and corners, and can even play RB occasionally.

For me the best corner taker in the league, which would be very useful having Mina

McNeil has a lot of potential and would fit perfect in Ancelotti's 442 or even in a 433, he is better tha any of our wingers (Iwobi, Walcott, Bernard)

I quite like McNeil. Stands out as quality even on a Burnley side that doesn’t really play the game.

Ward-Prowse is hardly going to improve the side and would cost quite a bit I imagine. There has to be better elsewhere for cheaper.

I don’t expect much transfer business either way for a while, I expect fees will go down and even tv money to drop. Any player currently on a contract will be counting each penny and don’t expect any we are trying to lose to take a cut. We’ll probably end up just giving the ones with a year left away.

Ward prowse is just an English seb Larson, he’s got nothing other than his set pieces which are actually very hit and miss, he’s bang average.
McNeil for the fee he’d command is simply not worth it and isn’t an upgrade on Bernard in the slightest anyway
