Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Ok, so according to transfermarkt:

Bolasie has played 119 times in the premier league.

he has 11 goals and 23 assists

that’s a goal every 10.8 appearances

and an assist every 5.2 appearances

Fraser has played 120 times in the premier league.

he has 16 goals and 29 assists

that’s a goal every 7.5 appearance

and an assist every 4.1 appearances

so according to these stats fraser’s goal/assist per appearance record is significantly better than bolasie’s.

obviously you could go deeper with stats. Things like goals/assists per min are better than per appearance. Also I think chances created is better than assists. It’s unfair that bolasie was supplying Niasse and DCL (before he turned good) and Fraser was supplying Calum Wilson who is actually a really good finisher.

having said all that, I’ve seen bolasie play for Everton and no longer want him at the club (though he was decent before his injury in 2016).

fraser may be slightly better but I don’t want Everton to give him the 5 year 120k a week deal he will get from some mugs as a free agent this summer.

5 more goals and 6 more assists in 120 games is not "significantly" better.

But you weren’t comparing it to the signing of Iwobi??

Would you pay £30m for Jesse Lingard who has a similar PL record to Fraser as a bit-part player in an average United side?

We are discussing the possibility of signing Ryan Fraser on a free. Arsenal are reportedly interested. I'm not sure Arsenal would be interested if he wasn't on a free. The same applies to Everton. Like it applied to Shaqiri. Liverpool wouldn't have signed him if he had not been available on the cheap.

How much do you think Bernard is fetching should he be sold? It won't be mega bucks because he isn't that good, but it could be circa 20 million.

I think Everton would be better off through obtaining 20 million through selling Bernard and picking up a player that is at the very least just as good as him on a free.

What does Arsenal being interested have to do with anything? Arsenal have signed some grim players over the past few years, players that actually wouldn’t improve us.

Fraser will do nothing at Arsenal, absolutely nothing. He’ll be sold to Watford for £8m after one season. Get ready to vault this.

That's some prediction because it's by no means guaranteed that he will end up at Arsenal. They're just reportedly interested.

You see, if we were discussing Richarlison vs Fraser then there would be no argument. If Everton can sign another player of Richarlison's quality to improve upon Bernard or Iwobi, again, there would be no argument.

The issue is that Bernard is not that great, and Fraser is available on a free. That's why there is an argument.

That just shows how much in decline Arsenal are though, going from signing players like Ozil, Sanchez, Pires etc to signing a bang average Bournemouth player that many of their rivals wouldn’t go near

They wouldn't be interested if he wasn't on a free. The fact that he is available on a free makes a big difference to this discussion.

I'd say the normal market value of Bernard and Fraser would be quite similar, neither would fetch mega bucks but you could be looking at 18 - 20 million in this day and age.

I think we would be better off if we could find a club that was prepared to pay market value for Bernard and replaced him with Fraser on a free.

I think we’d be much better off leaving Fraser, keeping Bernard and putting money towards a better quality player to interchange with Bernard for certain games

Fraser would not get the same number of assists here or at Arsenal nailed on

People that don't rate Bernard are the same people who thought we were "spreading the goals around" by signing Sigurdsson and Klaassen.

Tbf mate, I think a lot of people know that for FFP we're gonna have to shift a few players and Bernard is someone we could make coin on, offload some big wages, and not be irreplaceable. I think we'd all much rather move on the likes of Sigurdsson, Walcott, Tosun, Bolasie, Sandro et al, attacking players on big money that offer absolutely zero to the team but obviously no sane footy team will go near them outside of a loan deal.

That said, I do agree that anyone saying Bernard is crap because he isn't registering lots of goals and assists clearly isn't watching us. We generally play better with Bernard in the team.
