But he can’t defend whatsoever so that means 3 months of being a ghost on the pitch.

Some parts of his defending are ok, hes a good aggressive tackler.

But his positional play is atrocious which leaves us exposed quite a bit.

To be fair tho I only recall him having 2 absolute shockers.....Arsenal and Chelsea away.

He got caught out badly for a few goals in both them games and i think thats what sticks in everyones minds.

Against the lower teams in the league when we dont have as much defending to do i think hes OK tho

I think with decent players around him Sidibe would look good. He can definitely cross a ball and play. The issue is he’s caught out too much and the immediate players closest to him are often Michael Keane and Schneiderlin or Siggurdson. If we put some players next to him who were better than league 2 standard we might see the RB from Monaco and France again we’re he might make an error but it was more than made up for by his attacking power. At the moment he’s trying to play a game of football that half this team just aren’t anywhere near the level capable of playing.

I think he's been bad in quite a lot of games to be fair. You've somehow missed the one where we dragged him off after half an hour at Anfield for a start. I remember saying at the time, he put in a great cross for the winner at Southampton and everyone was praising him, but he was AWFUL in that game. He was a complete liability defensively.

Sidibe is great going forward (usually) but the Arsenal game sent me for 6, We were 1-0 up and this guy did two ROOKIE errors and lost the game because of it, He's too much of a liability defensively and if we have to lose some attacking flair to get a better defensive player then I'm fine with it. He's a risk taker he'll gamble on a 1% chance of winning the ball regardless of the situation.

The anfield one every player was shocking tho.

And he was a victim of the system, Silva tried to go with 2 wing backs and allowed Liverpool to exploit all the space behind the pair of them.

Regardless, my point really was that he gets exposed against the better sides, which is still true whether you include the Anfield game or not

And for the Southampton game i dont recall it like that, i thought he had a great game that day....Everton facebook account posted this after that game:

He's still responsible for his own performances, other people being rubbish as well doesn't really absolve him from blame.

Here's a selection of posts from the Southampton match thread on here while the game was going on (I can't actually quote them because the thread's closed):

Sidibe going all FIFA and just running after the ball. Poor discipline

Geez. Sidibe positioned himself horribly there

All from Sidibe messing around that was

Time to take of Sidibe

Sidibe can't defend. Bless him

Sidibe has been outpaced by Djenepo all night

What facebook posted posted is a heat map showing a right back spent most of his time on the right, some stats about how many times he touched the ball and passed it, and the fact he got an assist, which we've already covered. It doesn't really offer anything to suggest he defended well, which is what we're talking about.

OK forget the Anfield game then....like i said, hes not good against the better sides.

Are you really going to use the opinions of random posters on here to try to make the point? I'm sure you could find plenty of positive posts about him in that same thread. And a lot of people on here chat wham anyway so its a bit of a moot point lol

I'd say winning 11 duals is a pretty good indicator that he defended ok in that game, and if he had as much of a shocker as youre making out Everton wouldnt have dedicated a post specifically to him (they didnt do a stats post for anyone else after that game)
