Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

I really hope that if we do buy Todibo it is one for the future and not for now because having watched his last 3 games he is mot ready for our first team. If it was my choice I would spend the extra cash and go for Gabriel and if not I believe Zouma would be a better buy than Todibo.
With Todibo I don't think there's a question over his ability, just that he needs to be a little less exuberant and not so hellbent on winning the ball back as quickly as possible every time he has a sniff of it - I think he either gets the right coaching (which Ancelotti would be ideal to provide) and becomes a top class centre back, or he gets moved into defensive midfield.

Apparently we are quibbling over the fee for Coutinho with Barca :coffee:
I do believe that we will make a high profile signing in this window. I think Moshiri wants to raise the profile of the club and a high profile signing would make it look as if he is delivering on whatever promises were made to the manager.
Of all the players that are available I think Coutinho must be most unlikely because of his past connection with our neighbours but also because we probably won't be in Europe at all, nevermind the CL.

Where would Coutinho even play
Good point. Seemed to play his best out of the left cutting inside on his right foot at the RS. We desperately need a RM and I’m not sure he’s ever played there. Quality player on his day, but seems to have lost his way at barca and then bayern.

If we're definitely set on 4-4-2 we have to make sure our signings fit the system. Sick of us signing players that can only play in one position. Rather sign Dwight McNeil than Coutinho purely because he's an actual winger.

Probably on the left cutting in - selling Bernard and getting Coutinho on loan with an option to buy next season would make sense in terms of giving us the funds to also bring in a right sided winger also.

The whole midfield area is shockingly bad.

Yeah I get that, but they actually signed him, that’s a different thing. This seems to suggest we gave him a medical in February but weren’t signing him until the summer, that would make no sense.

I think there's many different parts to a medical, maybe we only did a few parts of it
I think Gomes could work in the 442 if he has someone alongside him like Allan, Gana, etc.

We need to spend big on quality in this position. We’ve got potential and resell value all over the squad now.

If we had the right players in the right positions to get the most out of the squad will have a 10 fold better outcome cash wise. One £40m Allan with the team playing better and challenging further up the table, would increase the value of the whole squad by 10-20%.

Look at Liverpool as the example - VVD was a world record fee, but how much has their squad value increased since buying the quality they needed? Sickening but Brands is right in what he says.

I've always thought it's more down to allison, think he's saved them in 2 or 3 derbies already, there was a lack of clean sheets when van dijk and Adrian were playing for example.

But yeah, swap those two names and it's a perfect point. Then again, we haven't conceded a goal for 3 months under carlo (getting this in before tomorrow) so we're on the right track in that regard.

I thought Ancelotti's wording was interesting the other day. He said there'd be no tactical change until the end of the season. That kind of suggests there will be one at the end of the season I think, when he's got the players he wants.

I think he'd be the absolute worst statement signing to make, within a year he'd be another massive wage we'd have to keep for about 4 years fuming about. He would not fit us in any way. I was dead against Zaha, I'd be even more against him.

From what I have read Barca need to raise 70 million euros by the 1st July. Todibo, Couthino and Rafinha seem to be the players they are happy to sell to reach that target, either Coutinho to reach the full target in one go, or they would sell Todibo for 25m, Rafinha has a release fee of 16m. That would leave 29m to find from somewhere, they would want to sell Coutinho for a lot more than that though, based on the huge sum they paid for him. They have 4 or 5 more players out on loan that they could sell to meet that 29m target.
I guess we just have to take it with a pinch of salt if we are linked with any Barca players over the summer as they are looking to sell, we have bought from them before so it could just be lazy journalism, linking us to their players

I agree with what you say, but surely that means he is not yet ready for our first team and we need somebody now, and in my view he gives the ball away to easily so I am afraid If it was my decision if we can't get Gabriel then I would go for Zouma.
