Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

We need to adopt the Arsenal approach if some players are injured or simply not good enough we need to give academy players a chance, I've never heard of Saka/Martinelli(I know he was bought)Greenwood before but they look really good and took the chance they got given.

The same way Gordon was brought on for an injury?
I'm talking long term injury, Is Saka not getting games because Kolasnic has been injured all the time? I just want to see more youth given a chance if some of the first team members are either injured for a long time or being gash every week like Delph/Morgan. Keane and Holgate is a good example.

So do you think we will only spend what we bring in? I personally think we will have money on top of what we bring in
I doubt Carlo Ancelotti who has won the CL three times plus numerous league titles and domestic cups agreed to become Everton manager with a sell to buy transfer budget
Money will be made available
It will more than likely be as dodgy as hell money but it will be available

Yup. Infuriates me when people think otherwise he’s here to make his own team

They're very rarely just 'given a chance' in the way that people on here mean it though. Greenwood was earmarked as a star from a very early age, he's become part of the squad on merit, because the coaches believed he was good enough. It's exactly the same as we've done with Davies, DCL, Holgate, Kenny etc, but because they haven't worked out as well (until now at least) people don't count them. It's not like the examples you're giving are just random academy lads that have been thrown in to see how they do and have taken everyone by surprise, they're the players deemed to be ready to step up by the people who work with them every day. If any of our lads show the same ability, i'm sure they'll get chances too.

I agree and have thought the same since he joined . Also Moshiri paying him and his team a fortune in wages, wouldn’t make a lot of sense not to back him.

I get that but Saka is class whereas as academy central midfielder (our long term injuries) aren't.

  • I'd be happy with Max Aarons with Coleman as back-up - don't buy Sidibe and potentially sell Kenny for £10-15m to Schalke or loan for another season.
  • Agree with a previous poster about that Gabriel and keeping Gibson as 4th choice; sell Keane. A PL club will sign him for £20m.
  • Could Gibson and Delph cover left back. We are never going to sign someone to rotate with Digne, and I think we should avoid signing backups completely. The days of Lars Jacobsen and Eddy Bosnar or gone... forever!
  • Gomes, Gbamin, Delph, Davies + Allan (if Carlo really wants him). Preference would be someone younger, but also think it should be someone mobile enough to work in a 4-4-2; most weeks will be outnumbered.
  • Right-wing - Think this is the big one. Over to you Brands and Carlo. Lozano would be good, but I'd like better!
  • Striker - if a top one is available go all out.

    5 first team player signings - £150m-ish

Sell Schneiderlin, Bolasie, Sandro, Walcott, Keane, Sigurdsson

Release Baines, The Clown, The Prince, The Stek.

The above is c. £800k a week. If we sign 5 first teamers for £600-700k a week we actually save on wages! We "could" bring in £60m+ in sales as well.

I get what you're saying but we can't really just forget signing back ups. In an ideal world yes, every player we sign is a first teamer who pushes the current incumbent down the pecking order. In reality though, i'm not sure we can do that, we probably need to carry on adding one or two average plodders who can do a job in certain areas for the time being. I mean you've got Gibson down as fourth choice centre half and second choice left back. So we're only a couple of injuries from asking him to play in two positions at once.

You've really gutted the squad there. You have to have some degree of depth even if they aren't ultimately the best players.

Be lucky to fetch anything for Bolasie and Sandro. Sigurdsson i reckon around £15m at max, Walcott probably the same if not less. Keane around 15-20m. Schneiderlin will be no more than 10m.

I'd keep Walcott personally as we'll need depth at RW and whilst his end product is poor we actually play better when he's involved.
