I think that going on Keane’s comments he expects to return next season.
I hope that Simms can step up this season , he should certainly be ready by next season.
Dobbin is also emerging and is highly regarded.
Keeping a pathway to the first team for these promising players is surely preferable to signing expensive makeweight’s on long contracts.
If they are regarded as potentially good enough of course.

Could see James staying for longer if both parties stay happy with eachother. Think he could keep playing well into his thirties as he depends on technical abiltity and vision rather than speed and strength.

Could see Ihattaran more in that current Gomes/Siggy role. But more of a natural in that position. We'd even have the luxury of easing him in with the current options.
You look at James and see a similar style to Pirlo, albeit they play different positions. What age did he play top level football to? Late 30s?

With Spurs doing their upmost to sign him to be fair
Yeah I forgot about that. You have to admire Grealish for sticking with Villa through thick and thin. Shame Rooney and Barkley weren't the same.

But I think it's harsh to write off a player for being in the championship at 23. Armstrong was a World Cup and Euro winner for England and youth level so obviously has some talent. And Newcastle are not well known for making smart transfer decisions. They let Gibson join us too.

I think Kean will leave one way or the other. Ideally next summer we get in a complete striker who can compete with DCL. My biggest worry at the moment is if James picks up an injury the drop in quality is huge. If DCL picks up an injury we can move Richarlison inside and we have Bernard or Gordon to come in on the left.
You're right but it can't be helped. Liverpool lose Salah or City lose KDB or Spurs lose Kane it's the same. Genuine world class players leave a hole when they aren't there

What i have seen of Simms in preseason tells me that its going to be some time before he is ready to have some minutes with the first team. He probably need a loan first to either championship or more likely league one first....I think he is a good couple of years away still.

The injury is bad news but we weren't getting rid of Bowler anyway. The lad is progressing nicely and he is still of an age that a season loan to a decent championship team could be the making of him. He still has a lot of promise.

He is 22 soon and will probably be released when his contract expires next summer.
