Positives are that we showed spirit to continue our unbeaten run in the face of a lengthy injury list, we've moved above Bolton and are a point closer to the RS, that we created numerous chances and that the debutants did very well.

Negatives are that sloppy play at either end cost us points and that we look to have picked up injuries to Distin, Coleman, Bily and Beckford.

On balance, not a bad afternoon.

Oh yeah, another positive...breaking our penalty duck!

if osman could finish he'd have been f'in Messi

if you'd said before the match that we'd gain ground on Liverpool today, i'd have taken it!

Really liked Gueye and Vellios and thought Bily did well today

They have me excited about our youngsters.

Same mate.
Actually Vellios has me excited from about some time ( ), have watched a few Reserves games... he's ace and exactly what we need. And to be fair i'd compare him to Carroll... except about 10 times better and with a lot more potential - he's big, he's strong, awesome first touch, loves to bring others into play, has splendid technique, can hold the ball up excellently... it's not a coincidence Moyes let him play about a month after he signed for us.

Monster of a player with unlimited potential to fulfill at the moment.

UP THE VELLIOS!

Good game, all in all.
A lot of coulda-woulda-shoulda-chances, like what is typical of the Villa game. Always a real pillow-biting performance from us in those games.

Stoked about Hibbo, the two young'uns, Billy, and a good job by Ossie. Pity he missed the chances, but yeah.

Vellios seems like a really good target man type already, some great knockdowns and presence up front, liked him. If Becks is out for the next game, it's when Vellios scores we frickin' riot. Bring it, young'uns!

Tell you what - considering the team we had out was the worst we've started with in years, combined with the luck we had against a team fighting for their lives, a point wasn't that bad.

A point gained on Liverpool and Bolton in our chase to nothing in a season that was wrote off after Reading.

Good game to watch, would have been fuming had we anything to play for. Ref shocking. Injuries shocking. Performance surprisingly good. Velios and Gueye did well and hopefully gave them a taste of what it is all about.

Yep I would agree with this, not bad at all.
