Credit to Ossie for putting in a real midfield engine performance. Really filled the Pienaar role in this game, i think. Showed passion and character on the pitch, more so than Heitinga and Rodwell who played such a negative game today.
Saha's movement and work deeper down in the pitch suits us fine and he does a good job at it. He is obviously a decent target man but if we look at our squad he's one of very few options left to give some edge to the final third.
Distin had another great game. Best £5m Moyes has spent since he bought Bainesy. I love watching him take his first two-three touches, i'm always surprised by his body faints and stepovers. Got speed too, and didn't do anything obviously wrong today. I think Jags was good today too, but his range of passing is embarassing. He only sent one offensive ball along the ground today, in the dying minutes, and it was intercepted.
Hibbo was decent, methinks. Looks aggressive on the overlap, combined well with Coleman. Who was great. A little firdgety, but really good compared to the rest of the team. Only Seamus and Ossie have any actualy creativity and guile to bring to the table. Saha and Beckford did their jobs, but not on the same level as the two former.
Another shoddy draw against a shoddy team. We usually have quite a few of these in any season, but this is exceptionally frustrating. Odd how everything seems to be standing still, isn't it? Actually, we're in equilibrium. Standstill. Balance, kind of. Mathematically, at least, look at our numbers in the table:
pos. g w d l gf ga dif pts
10th Everton 28 8 12 8 37 37 0 36
If we could possibly get more mid-table than this, we'd turn into Fulham. The only team who has more draws than us. And no-one wants to be a cottager.
