Cheers mate some good discussions on here. Everton definitely deserved to win but thought the ref was certainly a homer.

I was most impressed by lookman when he came on and can’t understand why he doesn’t start?
I am one of the Lookman fans myself and for me he changes a game, or attacks etc in the past when we didnt,he make's things happen for me when his head is in the game

Ahh that old Welsh stereotype that we all love rugby.

Funny story that Cardiff have won more trophies than Everton since the Prem inception. Considering I’ve seen my club from premiership to league 2 I’d say I’d know more about the entertainment value of the football league.

When Villa came down most of their fans were stating how refreshing being in the championship was.

You're going to have to expand here. Which trophies?

....couple of points;

Sigurdsson took up a great position for his goal, but those who go the match will notice how often he hits the penalty spot when we break. It takes immense desire and hard work to repeatedly do that and yesterday he got his reward.

When Sigurdsson had an effort cleared off the line in the 2nd half, Mina was alongside him in a central goalscoring position. Loved seeing him do that. Very encouraging.

Silva post match talked about how he has spoken to Gylfi about the positions he should be taking up and where he shoo ukd be affecting play. That 8 yard tap in will have been as satisfying as a 30 yard thunderbolt because even though it ain't as easy on the eye, it's him showing intelligence and anticipation.

I noticed Mina too, well ready for a little tap in if required eggs ;)

They set up to frustrate and hope one of their set pieces came off. Their only quality were throw ins.

Gomes man of the match. Lookman is a delight to watch...

That last paragraph is what we call being in denial mate ;)

All the best for the rest of the season though mate. I like Warnock, if you haven't already watch a documentary that was filmed a about 12 years ago when he was Sheffield Utd manager, a brilliant watch.

I have seen it and agree it was a brilliant watch.

Honestly I’d hate to be an Everton fan in current times. Must be boring just existing in the premiership without doing anything?

The most prestigious trophy in club football, the championship. Still a trophy also within 10 years had a fa cup final, league cup final and runners up in the championship last season which oddly got you a trophy too

I think "boring" would be the wrong word mate. Frustrating would be more accurate. Pretty much season after season after season we've finished between 5th and 7th (last season the exception with 2 seasons under Martijez as well) . Any team below 9th we tend to beat at home, any team in the top 6 at home we tend to give them a game and get the odd win. The top 4/5 we never bloody win away to and the rest of the league away from home are usually frustrating draws or poor away defeats or the odd away win.

We are on the right path with Silva though imo, was hoping he would have been secured once Koeman was punted but we had to endure King gravy swigger Samuel Allardyce unfortunately.

What we really need though is a cup win, that and ragging the scruffs across the park in their own back yard because its been far too long.

Boring, no. Frustrating, yes.

We as a fanbase are desperate for a trophy - and the only way to win one is have good players which hopefully the new DOF and manager start to bring through the door. (Silva also needs to learn to not rotate against prem opposition in the cups like at saints which was annoying and ultimately backfired).

I also love our Europa League stints and hope we qualify again this season (dont care if its via 7th or not).

Its frustrating how the top 6 are so strong but nothing lasts forever, Man City were nobodies a decade ago, Spurs only became part of the "elite" when Pochettino came in and built a quality side (helped by Kane coming through the academy) but nothing lasts forever.

Everton are in the process of moving stadium to a new 55kish ground as part of a massive redevelopment in the city centre called Liverpool Waters (google it if you are interested ha) and the owner has some very interesting links to Alisher Usmanov who is said to have influence in the club and is absolutely minted.

I would say we have big potential over the next 5-10 years of trying to push ourselves back into the top bracket - Moshiri has invested over £250 million in transfers in the last 3 seasons its just we wasted the money under Koeman and Walsh - Silva and Brands I trust to change that and they currently are with us sat 6th with players like Richarlison, Bernard, Gomes, Digne and Mina through the door - need to get Gomes on a permanent as he is boss.

I have to say I thought you guys were the worst side we’ve played away yday except Huddersfield. However in the main we have played the top 6. I still think you need 3 more quality players to challenge that top 4. It was obvious to see yesterday that no team were on form though.

...it’s some achievement being the club who has spent the longest time in top flight football. It’s really is the place to be and the thought of preferring to be in the Championship is frankly ludicrous. It’s been a struggle for us surviving at times, but we have when other big clubs have perished.

Championship clubs are desperate to join the Premiership because it offers such a massive challenge.

I thought Cardiff we’re good yesterday and I wouldn’t have complained had they got an equaliser. At the moment, Goodison is a diificult place to go, many more performances like that might see you having the misfortune of being back here again next season.

Regardless, it’s genuinely good that you have taken time to post on here.

You need to understand how much we have changed in the few games under Silva though, there will be bumps in the road and good organised sides like cardiff are tests of how far we have come, we wouldn't have won that game last year, if we did it would have been from one chance created. we are slowly but very surely becoming a footballing side, but it's always hard to break down sides like yourselves, well organised and fight hard for each other. Honestly we are chalk and cheese from even 6 months ago, we do not think we are as good as the top 6 yet but our aim is to start catching them.

Thanks for the fair assessment of Cardiff, a lot of fans tend to just say we’re a terrible Warnock team heading down.

The reason I prefer the championship is the thrill of chasing promotion whereas in the premiership I think there’s a ceiling unless you are the top 6 club. For instance Bournemouth are having a great season yet they’ll never break into that top 6.

It’s a good forum this with genuine good football debates and a lot of fair posters

Its all about opinions mate...I thought you guys were industrial at best...not easy on the eye ..and having watched some poor Everton sides over the number of years..this year things are certainly going in the right direction...Previous Everton teams would have succumbed to clogger industrial football...this side no...even though we were not firing on all cylinders we were light years apart in approach and skillsets....I love going the game these days to watch us....going to watch your team.. that would be very hard work...all about opinion though innit ..good luck for the season...
