....great stuff. This will be really tough. Despite the good transfer window the performances to this stage have been underwhelming. Perhaps opponents like these is what we need to raise our game but I'd settle for another point now.

I'd settle for another point now.

So would I, but I don't see us getting it. Precisely the wrong time to be playing the likes of Chelsea - players like Ramires and Hazard cause us problems at the best of times and first game back after the transfer window is not the best of times by any stretch of the imagination.

Quite a quandary for RM in midfield - given the steep prices for McCarthy and Barry I can't imagine he's brought them in to be anything other than starters, but they lack pace, they've never played together before and they've never played with any of their new team mates before. We're up against it and no mistake. Hopefully we can dominate the possession as we have in the previous three games - deny them the ball and they have less of a chance to score.

Good preview Chico, even if it feels like you've gone a bit easy on these stolen-Russian-mafia-money-funded johnny-come-lately types. One day a bit of plutonium is gonna sneak into the falafel in the director's box at stamfordski parkt, and the Roman Empire will fall.....

Hands down the best writeup for a match thread I've read on any forum. If you do this for every match it's a credit.

Oscar and Hazard picked up minor knocks during the internationals. Hazard seems fine now but Oscar probably won't feature. It's hard to predict what Mourinho will do but I'm going to guess he'll send out new signings Willian and Eto'o to see what they can do, and I think Mata will be back in for Oscar.

----------- Cech -----------

Ivanovic - Luiz - Terry - Cole

---- Ramires --- Lampard ----

Willian ---- Mata ---- Hazard

----------- Eto'o -----------

He might start Torres and De Bruyne for Eto'o and Willian if he intends to use them as subs this early, with Torres being quite unlikely since he doesn't seem to rate him at all. Lampard shouldn't really start but he probably will, I'd go with Van Ginkel myself. Cole may also be rested because of internationals for Bertrand. We have a CL tie three days after this so it's anyone's guess how players are feeling and how much he decides to rotate.

As far as gameplay goes, Mourinho has us working pretty much exactly like we were the last time (only not as physically dominant in midfield). We'll come out of the traps fast, press you hard and try to score early. Then kill the game. If you concede early I think it'll be very tough for you, because we'll just slow everything down and sucker punch you with counters for the rest of the game. Away from home at a tough ground I can only see him going for the quick and efficient over the exciting.

Great preview Chico, we'l be well battered if Eto'o is still as boss as his pro evo version.

Hoping Jose continues with his weird assessment that Mata isn't good enough for their XI. Noticed when training our clubs under 13 side the other night that these are by far the most supported club amongst the young lads, there wasn't one when I was that age, god damn glory hunters.

I'd take a point if it was offered up now, but lets hope for 3, and a few of them tantrums from Jose on the touchline.

COYB.

Peter Cech will start between the sticks looking like the world’s gangliest prop got lost and walked out on the wrong pitch.

haha excellent, made me laugh that. great write up as always Mr Chico.

We always seem to be up for these and the atmosphere should be hostile. Its got draw written all over it but i'm going 2-1 Blues!
