I want us to show some bottle. There's very few times I'd pick a performance over a result, but tomorrow is that. If we come out of tomorrows game with the sort of stats we have in our first 3 games, that would do far more to raise my expectation than a hardworking 1-0, 1-1 or 2-1 win would. Approach the Chelsea game like we have the first three and I really do think the season will be a good one.

It's our first biggest competitive game under our boss and it will be very tough as both teams will be coming to play football. I had a dream last night that we went 1-0 down, within 5 minutes we were 2-1 up. It was amazing, I however was late for the match as my bird was in Haydock so I got a taxi and only got there for the second half.

Back to reality, this could be the game that turns most of the negative supporters positive but if we lose they will be out in full force. We all need that first win and it would taste so sweet on Saturday, but lads this is Chelsea who have a fantastic record under Mourinho and will be exceptionally hard. If we draw we will have 4 points from 4 draws and it won't look good on paper, people will evaluate our performance in the 4 games but if we win it will change so much. I don't even wanna think what it'd be like on here if we lose. Bloody hell.

Dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer, but can you put your hands on your head oh no.

Good post there mick

Hands down the best writeup for a match thread I've read on any forum. If you do this for every match it's a credit.

Oscar and Hazard picked up minor knocks during the internationals. Hazard seems fine now but Oscar probably won't feature. It's hard to predict what Mourinho will do but I'm going to guess he'll send out new signings Willian and Eto'o to see what they can do, and I think Mata will be back in for Oscar.

----------- Cech -----------

Ivanovic - Luiz - Terry - Cole

---- Ramires --- Lampard ----

Willian ---- Mata ---- Hazard

----------- Eto'o -----------

He might start Torres and De Bruyne for Eto'o and Willian if he intends to use them as subs this early, with Torres being quite unlikely since he doesn't seem to rate him at all. Lampard shouldn't really start but he probably will, I'd go with Van Ginkel myself. Cole may also be rested because of internationals for Bertrand. We have a CL tie three days after this so it's anyone's guess how players are feeling and how much he decides to rotate.

As far as gameplay goes, Mourinho has us working pretty much exactly like we were the last time (only not as physically dominant in midfield). We'll come out of the traps fast, press you hard and try to score early. Then kill the game. If you concede early I think it'll be very tough for you, because we'll just slow everything down and sucker punch you with counters for the rest of the game. Away from home at a tough ground I can only see him going for the quick and efficient over the exciting.

Just wanted to say nice one, praise indeed from an opposition fan especially when I've had a few customary cheap shots at you. Just out of interest, how did I do with your team assessment? I'm no avid other team watcher so I blag it a bit.

Anyway thank you. And cheers for all the nice comments as always, don't want to turn it into my preview thread as its about the match whether you read it or not, but tar. I've had a difficult week and this has cheered me up.

Cheers for the insight lid. keep posting.

Quality as always mr AZUL. Think this has got draw all over it really. If we score first it could be good as Chelsea will hunt the ball and we know how to keep it these days.
