HAs anybody mentioned it in here, about the Luiz foul on Mirallas? It has not been shown on ANY replays, or analysis shows, none whatsoever. Huge talking point for me. I thought the rule was goal scoring opportinuty, not just last man (though there is a case he was anyway) I'd put my house on Mirallas outpacing the Chelsea defence from that distance.

Completely agree, I shouted that it should be a red when talking to my friend (who's a gooner) and he said it should be no more than a yellow because it wasn't a goal scoring chance? but how is it not!? Mirallas bursts through and goes 150% sprint speed to go 1v1 or something, may not have scored but it was cynical from Luiz.

He had done Luiz, and already had him beaten. The ONLY reason Luiz dragged him down there was to deny him a goalscoring opportunity, if he had of thought he was covered, I dont think he'd of risked it. That late in the game, luiz could risk going to 10 men, so long as it wasn't 2-0. Incredibly cynical foul, and I would rather see these punished heavily than some of the late, but genuine attempts at getting the ball

It should have been a red, I had a fiver on Everton to win, over 11 corners and the card index to be over 40 points at 14-1.

Everton win = check

Over 11 corners = check ( 13 corners )

Card index over 40 points = denied it was 40 points.

Pfffft Howard Webb, i'm blaming you for the lack of GTA in my house this week.

So Derek Temple's cup final winner was not a chance then? Tell your Gooner friend he's talking ****e.

It wasn't exactly a soft foul either. Still, I can understand how it's difficult to claim a clear goal-scoring chance from behind the half way line.

I feel sorry for Howard Webb, he tried so hard to make Chelsea score but in the end just couldn't manage it.

Never give up, Webb. You'll have your moment in the sun...

xoxox

The distance is irrelevant to whether it was a goal scoring opportunity. After he was past Luiz, Mirallas was one on one with the keeper. Nobody was going to catch him from that point. It's as much a goal scoring opportunity if he's running at Cech from the half way line as it is if he's 30 yards from goal.
