we lost 1-0 at home first game of the season last season as well

i understand peoples frustrations but dyche is building something good here, i can feel it and when it all eventually clicks together it will be glorious

he was given a ridiculously hard job last season and saved us, i can understand why he would opt for experience right now but when we have mcneil and dcl back from injuries and danjuma and chermiti have settled in and if we bring in gnonto and if dele comes back a new man then this could be a very exciting team to watch.
Love the positivity, but that's a lot of ifs

I can and will continue to blame any fans that don't support protesting mate. I'm sorry but I just will. I think they're complicit in the killing of this club. I'm not even asking them to do anything. Just back those of us that will do it.

Heard so many round us yesterday shouting “nothings changed “ the same people who lambasted me and others for walking out at the arsenal game ,and who look at you like you’ve got three heads while your protesting down goodison road

I think their keeper had a very good game, we created chances and could have easily had a few goals before they scored. I think the club are trying to buy a talented striker or 2, but i can understand why this is challenging on many levels with our current issues.

And our current issues are caused by?

Looking at the balance of play across the game, we were happy to allow Fulham have the ball in areas where they wouldn’t hurt us, which accounts for their “dominance” of possession.

Beyond that, we had a tonne of chances, several clear cut chances, which on another day at least one goes in: Doucoure in the first half, Maupay’s two sitters, Patterson against the bar, and the disallowed goal.

As long as we are creating more clear cut chances than the opposition, that tells me that we’re going in the right direction. Quite simply, a fully fit DCL up top yesterday wins us that game.

Leaving the striker situation get to where it is now is criminal; a semi competent forward in the first eleven sees us win that game comfortably.

This is the 1st time in ages where I left the ground and thought Everton were unlucky to lose. Normally it is a feeling of 'well, that was rubbish' but I never thought that yesterday. The finishing was rubbish but 19 shots on goal, and a number of clear chances, feels more frustrating than hopeless. Hopefully Danjuma or the Sporting Lisbon lad will be able to get a few goals for us and things look ok...... for the moment.

I went to bed thinking Maupay was Dogshyte but decided to sleep on it, woke up this morning, after a crap sleep (Cheers Bill) and can confirm that he is Dogshyte !!!

We pretty much started the same team from last season, and had the exact same issues going forward.

It’s almost like signing players who can take chances will improve us, yet we are dragging our heels getting anyone in.

Overall I didn't think it was a bad performance. We should of been out of sight by half time. We need to get a goalscorer in ASAP.

In my opinion that makes it a bad preformance. Not doing the most important thing in a game makes us rubbish.

Agreed, good post.

Im a little confused with those who acknowledge that we created a lot of chances but didn’t look like scoring - we certainly did look like scoring quite a few times which is in stark contrast to the FL era.

Maupay actually did reasonably well but is simply not good enough, he should have scored at least two, I also recall him holding the ball up and retaining possession. He did a lot better than I thought he would but he just lacks the quality at the top level - I don’t think those two things are mutually exclusive.

Hopefully the club can get the necessary business done between now and the window shutting. This is not how we would like things to be done or indeed not how we feel it should be done but it has been the way the club has operated for several seasons and we all know it.

It’ll be another tough season to be an Everton supporter this year.

At least we're not deluded as a fanbase, eh? We know exactly what we need after today. Anyone with eyes on the game will have seen re: Maupay. You can't stress enough how converting our chances, especially in the first half, would have changed things.
Except the owner/Board/DOF/ manager

We haven't been able to take our chances for 2 seasons so I'm definitely not basing my opinions on 1 game. Today just highlighted clearly all our long term problems.

We weren't unlucky. We just have woeful, substandard attackers who shouldn't be playing at this level.

Only good recruitment fixes this mess.

How people can be encouraged watching that is beyond me. It just exacerbated all my fears and concerns on how on earth we will score even close to enough goals.
We were unlucky though. We created chances and had Danjuma even started we won today.
