Overall a below par performance, but a big three points gained.

McCarthy was quietly excellent there. On 70 odd mins when he went after a ball and wouldn't give up on it for love nor money and eventually won it off about 3 Hull players aroused me immensely.

Coleman also had one of his games where he looks a complete player. Barry was good, but not at his excellent best, Pienaar a breath of fresh air when he came on. Probably a bit of a gamble as leaving him on the bench suggested he wasn't quite there. Osman was shocking, but it looks like RM is twigging on to that. Barkley poor by his standards but did well for the goal. Lukaku was crap, but that's nothing to worry about. Mirallas is clearly struggling for a bit of form atm, but hopefully that'll come and in the time being he still has quality to call upon in flashes.

It's such a relief to have Pienaar back. Makes the left so much more dangerous and means we're more difficult to handle. You've got to take care of the left, Barkley and Lukaku in the middle and Coleman and Kev on the right.

I think it's big that we got the points today. Got away with a poor showing. If we get max points when we play well too, we're on to a winner.

Good win. McCarthy best for us. Have to say Curtis Davis was MOTM. If it wasn't for him we would have scored 4 or 5.

Credit to Hull. Well organized and try to play football.

add up the price of arsenal and chelsea's attacking squad of players, then add up ours and try and say that again?

Money has nothing to do with the point I'm making....we just need to finish better and take the easy chances we get. Kone's being the point in case, no excuse for that

Good win, struggled at times but points in the bag are what count. Hull worked very hard and as long as the injuries they got don't disrupt them too much they should be fine this season.

An in difference performance for quite a a lot of that game for me,made very hard work of it and hull could have had a few goals, but over all you take what you can from what for me was not a good performance overall

WHY DIDN'T PIENAAR SHOOT FFS!

Made hard work of that in the end. Or Hull did.

McCarthy boss, Barry good again, Lukaku quiet, Mirallas looking his old self again, Jagielka dodgy, Kone useless.

Can't keep getting caught out playing from the back like that.

3 points, though, and some good football.

PLAYER REACTION - Everton 2-1 Hull
Steven Pienaar
Steven Pienaar on the goal celebration that saw him adjust a South Africa flag at the front of the Park End: "When I came out before the game I saw it was upside down and every time I looked over it was annoying me. I didn't want to get booked."

ha, is rice OCDPeinaar lad. he should have shot yes, but we've seen his finishing, it's not exaactly rutheless, scored a great winner though, real good move

The thing is we're on 15 points...right in the thick of things...and you can't say we're even 75% of our potential at this point.

A good game going forwards in parts but a big worry is set pieces like last season no one in the defence dominate in the air at the back - Hull could have punished us today - but hey 3 points I will take them gladly!
