Not only just a persistent offensive threat, I thought the team was pretty sound defensively as well. Except at the end of game someone probably had to elucidate the meaning of the term clean sheet to Keane and Holgate as they were probably baffled on the concept. Jesting aside both defenders while not exceptional by any means can be serviceable if their confidence is intact. Games like this and some greater consistency will aid them in generating some self-assurance.
A strong midfield helped a lot, and I mean that in a physical sense (Allan and VDB weren't battled off the ball) and technically. They won the ball and played it.

VDB dropped back into the gaps very well. This meant that we were defending from the front and it let the likes of Keane and Holgate play their own game.

We didn't give Leeds a sniff - we took it to them - and that's the difference.

That was a fantastic game and I'm looking forward to watching that again. Easily the best game they played all season and night and day difference between Rafael's and Frank's teams. You have to wonder how authoritarian Rafael, there were so many signs, insisting on playing the same way every game, consistently starting rondon until he was probably told not to.

Then you look at Frank's teams and how much more fluid they are, Iwobi getting up and down the pitch. Coleman constantly getting into the opp. penalty box. Gordon roaming around. Both VDB and Allan attacking.

Alli - what a talent, knows how good he is. If he stays on the pitch and plays week in and week out, I think we've got an unbelievable player. And worth the max 40m we might have to pay for him.

DCL changed the tactics too, what a world of difference a striker that can hold up the ball makes!

Voted Gordon MoM, could have been Iwobi, VDB or Kenny.

Sorry if I’ve got this wrong, but I could have swore the ref made Jordan Pickford change the match ball when he was taking a goal kick.

Then later on, someone smashed the ball into the main stand where it promptly went straight down the stairs and disappeared onto the concourse.

The commentator even said what had happened, and about 6 people came up the stairs with their half time pies and teas onto the terrace whilst the entire stadium was looking at them waiting for the steward to find the ball. But they couldn’t, so had to get a new ball.

Anyone else see that?
On the commentary I heard, they said that it was because the ball had lost pressure and they changed it for a new one. He could have been guessing of course.................

Who s this Trinity guy. Waffling nonsense about dropping Keane and Coleman. And saying that IwobI is a complete waste of space. What do we know. It's a funny old game. Who knows what this Everton bunch produce next. Do those same players turn up next week?
But that was a good win today. Breathe in......Breathe out. We've won a football match. Now let's ( yet again) kick on.
Something similar next week against Southampton will be great. And Let's also try and give City a match. Why not? Have a proper go at both those teams. We can play. When they set their minds on playing.
Hope that Keane gains confidence from today. And also hope that
DC L can get a few goals soon. DVDB looks good. And here's hoping that A.Gordon can now weigh in with more goals. And can Iwobi keep that lebel.of performance going. Great stuff today though. Don't care that Leeds got the bar a few times. That's football.
Everything looks better after an Everton win. The trick now is to do something similar next week.
Up The Toffees. Lampards Leeds thumping Toffees

Imagine were we would be if Frank took over after the Watford game, when Rafael should have definitely gone.

Would always be the case that if we play on the front foot at home and attack we would sweep aside most of the dross in this league. But there’s no point getting carried away with these set of players. If the attitude against Southampton is the same as yesterday we will beat them. But if not then it will be another reminder, if we needed one, why the majority of them need binning.

You're absolutely correct it's like a butterfly effect on the pitch, everything is connected. VDB was instrumental in providing additional coverage for the defense, even Iwobi who basically served as another box to box Midfielder. That was completely absent under Benitez , teams would just cruise past our midfield, this time the defense wasn't overwhelmed so they were able to retain their focus to a greater degree.

I only manage half a dozen games a season or so but Leeds are the first away fans I’ve seen in years openly looking for trouble in pubs etc rounded off the day nicely to see a few of the biffs on their arses whilst we were walking up Priory road to get the bus?
