6 points is too far with this amount of games to play. They have to win twice without us even getting a point and teams down there are there because they don't win.

I know but teams strig results together at the end of the season. Remember Sunderland taking four points off Chelsea and City AWAY last season. We have 12 games left and from our last 14, we got 11 points. It's time we admitted, and I mean the manager too, that we are in a relegation scrap.

That might well be the case, but Howard was put under pressure in the first place by losing the ball in midfield. Yes, he made mistakes, i just get annoyed when people easily forget all the other points we would have lost over recent seasons, including this, had it not been for immense work by Howard. It seems the memory of the Chelsea game has already been lost, a game in which he made one great save after another and was not at fault for the goal. A goalkeeper makes a mistake: he gets a ton of flak; a striker makes a mistake and it is much more likely to be overlooked. A goalkeeper does most things right in a game but makes a mistake that costs the team points: he is derided; a striker makes one mistake after another in a game but scores the winning goal and he is lauded.
No-one is criticising Howard for his record at everton. Last year he had a fine season (aided by a solid defence) but this year he has made a number of errors. I guess that what separates the top keepers from the rest, those keepers that make the fewest errors, unfortunately in that regard Howard has been poor this season. Robles was just beginning to find his feet (3 clean sheets in a row) and was dropped for Howard. I don't think that is sending out the correct message to the team.

this again showed that theres no easy game in PL.
personally i think we had a bit of a swiss hangover. very important point in that respect.

dropped two but salvaged one. not a end of the world. onwards upwards ebutom.

lower midtable is acceptable this season
...all about europa now...and we're boss there.
bring on thursday and £350,000 sweetener
At some point you would like it to turn around. If we don't win the Europa League then all we'll have left of this season is this rubbish from start to finish. No improvements. No clue. Big players seemingly going backwards in their performances or wanting to leave. Could we really risk another season of this?

I don't know. I like Martinez and when we play boss and I like how he plays when the tempo is high but I'm just getting that sinking feeling he's too soft. He can't motivate his team. This season it's only in the Europa League especially after our bad start. Last season we where pushing for top 4 and playing well. With Wigan it was either for cup runs or at the end of the season to avoid the drop. When there's not much to play for his teams seem to be in a coma.

I know we gave him a long contract and it's a bit of 2nd season syndrome but it doesn't look great.

At chelsea he was average. I would expect keepers to be making the saves he did. I think he should have saved the goal.

Today he nearly scored a Hattrick.

Plenty of other goal keepers live with that. Ultimately none of those saves against Chelsea or YGs where ones you wouldn't expect him to make. That's the problem with Howard. He doesn't make the wonder saves and does make howlers. Everything else is simply doing the job.

It isn't 1 or 2 mistakes thought, he's done it all season, Man U, Spurs and Palace. He's simply not good enought and hasn't been for years. If we had big nev the last 4 years we off won the league at least twice. That's How costly he is an it's not just the mistakes, when Robles was in the defence looked rock solid and earned us points. With Howard it seems like panic stations every time the other team come forward. He's a liability and always has been. We've changed every player in every position in the last 10 years except Howard and were still no better.

you do realise that we're not a sunday league under 12's team? he's an international goalkeeper, you seem to be thinking him making an unmarked catch from a corner is praise worthy.
yes we lost the ball in midfield, they put in a ball into out box with nobody getting near it - it was pearoller gifting play back to us - and howard f*cked it up again.

what game vs chelsea are you on about? i can only imagine it was from a few seasons ago.

I just think we were tired, nothing else. Thank god we're not in cups anymore.

wouldn't go that far, but there's no doubt we would be in the top 6 at least this season if it weren't for him. we've been utter crud, all the players, but i've seen every other team bar the top 2 be just as crud. you compare us to man utd. the gap i'd say is about 30 points if you're comparing the two keepers, not even an overestimation there either probably.
