There was a time last season I thought the wheels might have been coming off for Rodgers, (which happened at Liverpool and to a degree at Celtic) after the initial burst. He's steadied you think season, and as you say with the injuries you've had done really well to get you to where you are now. You're right in the mix for the top 4 and the league.

Madisson kicking on is a big positive too. I think for a while, after a positive start he flattered to decieve a bit. It's good to see him adding goals.

As I always tend to say, replacing Vardy will be tough and it's a ticking bomb a to when he goes. I'm delighted given his record against us he's missing.

Without him, I fancy us to win on Wednesday. We are well set up to play against sides like Leicester- good teams who will play football. It won't be pretty, but we will dog it out. If Evans is still playing for you, Richarlinson and DCL against him could give us some joy.

We were probably a bit lucky at Goodison last year, where you had a spell of battering us but we held firm. Thats the difference the manager has made for us, we don't have to play well to win. An older Italian manager, a bit like what you had with Ranieri, he has made us hard to beat and we score enough goals. This current Everton team reminds me a bit of Leicester in 2016.

How do you compare this Leicester team, to say the 2020 side and the 2016 vintage? How would you assess all 3. Probably at the same point in the season, you had a siilar points total across the 3.
Yeah I was worried for the beginning of this season. Much like how we carried on the momentum of the great escape season under Pearson into the Ranieri title winning one I feared the collapse last year could've carried on into this one. He does seem to have learnt his lesson quite a bit.

I'd say this season all of these young players are one year older and one year wiser. It's easy to forget that players like Tielemans, Maddison and Ndidi are still very young because of how long they seem to have been around for. We've also added Wesley Fofana who I have no doubt will go to the very top, his talent at the age of 19 is like nothing I've seen in a Leicester shirt.
Comparing this side to the title winning side is a funny one as I think we have more natural talent now by a long way but I'd still fancy the 15/16 side to beat our current teams 5 times out of 10 just purely on character

It has been 13 months now and even when he hasn't been scoring this season, which was primarily because James and Digne were both injured, he has still been playing really well.

He stays central, his movement is fantastic, he can jump and head better than anyone in the League, he is rapid and he is built like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Edit: I forgot to also say, And he is beautiful.
Stop sitting on the fence! Do you rate him yes or no?

It's interesting that. As I'd imagine last season you may have had more points, and in a way that process of flying and then tanking a bit, probably helped a few of the players. It might even hve helped Rodgers too, to come out the other side. It's the thing that gets a bit lost in football these days, where everyone wants people sacked, players sold etc immediately. Sometimes that experience of throwing it away can work for a team.

I probably see this squad as somewhere between the 16 & 20 squad. Maybe less pure ability than last year (when you factor in how good Vardy was at the start, he might not get back there again) but probably more grit, experience and know how compared to last year. Again less know-how and spirit than 16 but more ability.

It will be a good game, and the biggest compliment you can give Leicester is it's no surprise you are up there now. I don't think Leicester will collapse like last season either.

Not optimistic due to the midfield absences which will see us field the unholy trinity in midfield.

The slowest midfield the world has ever seen.

Hoping Carlo has an ace up his sleeve or that Davies, Sigurdsson and Gomes all play well somehow.

Either way, I will just enjoy watching James being by far the best and most talented player on the pitch.
