Everyone says that this Liverpool side is very poor and the worse in 40 years, but how did they win one cup this season and on the way to another? They did Everton 3 times this season, may be they are not that bad after all?

They struggled to win the Carling Cup and only just won it. You beat us first time when we were playing **** oh and we had a player sent off for no apparent reason. The second time we had half our best players out of the squad - and to replace them we had players coming back from injury. And the final time we bottled it and yeah you deserved to win

And the Liverpool side is very poor, have you watched them play at all this season? They are awful - and if you consider the amount of money spent its a joke.

And cups are great, but its the league that matters - thats what will get Kenny fired if he doesnt get his act together.

Here is a suitable link if you want to research into it abit more. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=RAWK

Who cares? I never watch a single minute of their games (aside from when they play us) nor read articles about them (I hadn't heard of half their players from Saturday) so I have no idea if they're good or not. Nor is it remotely relevant. I want US to win something -- whether we're knocked out by the best club in the world or a non-league side doesn't change the end result of the season.

Let's lock this thread -- nothing offensive going on here (aside from discussing the most offensive result I've seen in quite some time) I just don't want to feel compelled to keep checking it. ;)

The major difference between Everton and Liverpool is the style of play, they are average, don't get me wrong, but there philosophy is geared towards playing from the back and because they don't move away from it at the first sign of defeat, they have enough composure and confidence in possession to see out a game like this. The goalkeeper is used as a distributor, the centre backs split, the fullbacks push higher up the pitch and a midfielder drops into that space between them. It doesn't necessarily give you all out exciting, attacking football but teams tend to protect the ball better, use it more patiently and there's more passing angles for the player in possession. If anything to be learned from this loss it's that more attention have to be focused towards our style and how we want to play. No one plays our style of football in the Champions League or even the Europa League, which we have also struggled in. We've certainly gained qualities from what Moyes preaches, but it's time to be a little more creative and build on what we have.

That requires a new manager, because you cant teach that old dog a new trick. It seems to me his basic way of operating is to have an unbalanced team with emphasis on one flank to the blatant disregard of the other as an attacking outlet; and to continue some ridiculous 5 across the middle system in all circumstances that he tries to laughbly pass off as a forward + advanced midfielder combo that only exists on his blackboard and in his own head.

Beyond adding perspiration and team spirit to our game, I'm struggling to come up with the qualities he's added, tbh.

I agree with the 2 posts above. For me, we are missing Mikel Arteta desperately. He took a lot of abuse from stupid inidividuals who claimed he was a crab and did nothing but he was important to Everton's style of play. He took the ball from the defenders and played as a quarterback, which is very important in terms of keeping the ball and creating play. We have 2 players in Fellaini and Gibson, who whilst they are comfortable on the ball, they aren't willing to take it from the defenders and dictate play. It seems like the only player who is willing to do that these days is either Pienaar, who plays outwide or Ross Barkley from what I've seen. I just don't know how were going to be able to change our style of play.
