No need to exaggerate :)
I just think he's have offered more than Gueyre.

Of course the biggest problem was tactical.

Well he was always going to offer more than Gueye. Gueye has had a handful of decent appearances in the side and playing him at Wembley would ALWAYS be a gamble because he's hardly had any big game experience. I still think he's got good potential, just needs time.

Not just tactical mate, it doesnt matter what the tactics were from where I was sat there seemed to be 9 or 10 men in blue shirts that didnt seem to have a clue. Apart from Jelavic I cant honestly think of another player that had at least a half decent game. By the way I am not defending Moyes here s far as I am concerned he can go now, he cant do anymore. My prediction anyway is he will be going to Spurs, as Hawwy is going to be England manager come end of season and Moyes new contract means it will cost Spurs more to get him hence EFC making a few quid. If he goes, good luck to him because as far as I am concerned money or not for a club like ours over ten years without a pot is not good enough Joe Royle did it with minimal funds so why cant Moyes? A) because he doesnt know how to install the "Dogs of War" and B) he is tactically inept in the big games that matter.

Someone on here said earlier "we will come good we always do" well I wouldnt hold your breath boys and girls because this team is getting older and is worth little compared to many other teams in the PL. The future until a buyer comes in looks very bleak and I am not looking forward to it but as usual I will be behind them.

Gotta laugh at certain people claiming we lost because we didn't have Pienaar.

We had him for several seasons and didn't win anything.

We got to this damn semi final without him, smashing the team 9th in the table on their home ground to do so.

Sure he probably would of done better than Gueye yesterday but there are several far more blatant reasons why we lost today (as have been noted here) than missing one player.

So......

play wellish for the first half and go one up. Apparently sit back immediately and invite them on to us. They pile on the pressure and our play becomes ever more desperate and nervy. Cue mistake from a normally reliable defender.

Jeez, I feel like it's 1971 at Old Trafford or Wembley in 1986 all over again. Sylvain and Seamus I'd like you to meet Gary Stevens of Everton and England. Gifted the ball to them in 1986 and boom, we're 2-1 down after leading.

We seem to turn giddy when we're in front against this lot - always happens.

So my conclusion has to be that we lost this game in our heads even before it started. Moysie said yesterday that he hoped to make it a very difficult game for Liverpool. Just consider that statement and put it alongside the game we played at the stadium of light. Seems to me that we played our own game that evening and started without fear....the exact opposite of today.

I have to admit that - although I want Moyse to stay - I'm edging towards Davek's view that his conservatism is limiting us. He may have taken us as far as he can - unless he learns from this.

SFA would never have sent a team onto the pitch with instructions to simply contain the opposition and to hold on to a 1-0 lead. He'd be encouraging them to apply the killer stroke and bury them. Moysie either believes in these boys or he doesn't - they're easily talented enough to have competed at every position but you can tell they don't really believe that themselves.

Moyse's great talent is in spotting talent and buying well. Plus getting the players very very fit (hence the goals we score late on). Tactically he's so-so.

But his biggest weakness is psychological. He has to learn to allow these players to express themselves and play without fear.

Finally, I think we should be asking about what Steve Round's role is in all this. Know nothing about the man so have no evidence either way. His body language and the odd press interview suggest to me that he's unlikely to challenge DM and make him change. His role should be to present DM with a fit team, raring to go and ready to carry out the senior officer's strategy. He should also be the confidante of the more brittle characters (where was he when Bilyaletdinov needed him?). Doesn't seem to me that that's his role at all....all I ever see is him taking instructions from the boss. Yes man?

Gutted here. But have been here many times before so one more makes little difference. We can use this if we can learn from it....have my doubts though.

Great post.

This couldn't be more correct if it tried.

It's not Liverpool that's the issue. It's us. More pertinently, it's Moyes. He's scared of them. Terrified. He gets a goal up and feels the need to defend that lead.

Ah feck it, I'm not getting into this again. Davek, have at 'em pal.

*buggers off back to Ale House to hide

Moyes' problem is he needs to win TOO badly. He's too desperate for a trophy and the credo that goes with it. His whole mindset is that he doesn't dare lose, so he plays defensively. But who dares, wins. Or at least, more often than not daring at all. The sad thing imo is that with a trophy under his belt Moyes might loosen up and be a better manager. He blew that chance yesterday, big time.

I have stayed clear of GOT since the game ended, due to the pain.
The pain of losing, and the pain of us once again not putting in a performance against the RS of which we are capable.
We didn't do enough to win the game and isn't odd that our two poorer performances/results in the last couple of months have both been against the RS.
I just hope we can finish the season playing with passion and pride, getting results rather than capitulating from here on in.

Still feeling gutted about it, it was the first thing on my mind when i woke up, just thinking about how one stupid mistake that probably dosen't even happen once a season lost it for us, i felt we were in control and all we needed to do second half was do more of the same and we would have won.

You're not DM's son by any chance?

To sum up the game, we had one real chance which was gifted to us. They had alot of chances, our defence looked open and we looked threatened by their pace. We held them as much as possible, but they missed some sitters and good chances - Carrol missed about 3 chances which should have been goals i think?

We were lucky not to lose 4-1. In a way, it would have been better if they had scored some of them chances in the early stages of the match, atleast we would have been fighting for the result rather than just accepting pressure and then hoofing the ball up to Fellaini.

Totally agree.

Or we can purposefully lose against Man Utd in the hope they win the title as a result, which apparently will [Poor language removed] Liverpool enough to make up for their 2 Wembley appearances and 3 times they've beaten us.

The above has actually been preached by fellow forum members...

Fair enough. Looks like we were both wrong then! Anyway there's only a couple of days in it, and we're all agreed that Thatcher, the FA, and UEFA all wanted the ban regardless of who initiated it.

Ah yes, Tha*cher. She has haunted my life from the day she took office. A self-opinionated reactionary that the Tories can be truly proud of. The recent film The Iron Lady is well worth watching, and gets the measure of her, with some superb acting from Meryl Streep.

She (Tha*cher) had passion, i'll give her that. But passion only works well with brains. In footballing terms that can probably be translated into Everton's success under Catterick, as posted by someone earlier on in this thread. The School Of Science? I think DM must have shorted all the electrics on the day he took office.

At least we didn't get battered as is the case with what Spurs are recieving from Chelsea currently. (Controversial 2nd Chelsea goal or not!) 4-1 Chelsea.
