Our main problem is we don't do it in numbers. The two wingers need to right up on their full backs on the edge of the oppositions area. Goal kicks, the lot, don't worry about following them back up the pitch let them worry about you because they're defenders first and foremost.

Our pressing is one of them chasing the keeper then the defenders on their own whilst the other two sit back, it's basics.

I'd disagree slightly. Pressing up like that on a goal kick is pointless - the keepers under no pressure so could quite comfortably pass to any other player who is then in possession higher up the field with the knowledge that both Everton wingers are upfield leaving the fullbacks one on one with the attacking wingers.

It also makes the offside trap very easy to execute. Defenders aren't gonna be worried if all they have to do is run forward two yards and the attacking winger, marking him on a goal kick, is immediately unavailable to receive passes due to being offside.

Pressing is best done with the ball in open play and executed en masse the moment there is a poor touch, loose pass or lack of passing options for the player on the ball. One presses the ball and the others cut available passing lines. Sounds simple but requires good legs, good concentration and a bit of a hivemind mentality. We're light years off that - especially with Bolassie up there.

There's very little that gets me more frustrated in a football game then players constantly slipping over, by the way..

It's 2018 ffs.. how are boots not able to keep you upright in wet conditions yet??

Yeah they make them crap these days so they're more nimble and can dribble better or some crap. The amount of money ploughed into football and they still can't find someone with a good design to make them stay up.

Less falling over from celebs who have learnt to ski in five weeks.

Few points from todays game -

1.Hated pre match show on all channels . They were all bragging abt liverpool squad rotation n klopp tactics . Everton were also playing in the derby , someone needs to remind them

2.How on earth did we not score .

3.Was it just a coincidence or big sam really did mastermind this . I have been noticing Liverpool attack on all gears in first half , and then get tired in the second half . Particularity in the last 10 min , they always become very vulnerable after 80 min of pressing . Me and my pal used to joke that teams shud just defend against Liverpool for first 60 min and should then start attacking them . And we actually did that today and it worked !! So was this a master strategy by Big Sam !!! Or it just happened

Liverpool have scored the second most goals in the 2nd half this season behind city. Rather than a masterclass I would say they played a weakened team and the Derby isn’t as important to them as normal.

Draws against them feel like a loss to me against them now.. does my head in, why have a go near the end the dosie gets! Basically drew against their reserves. Crap

Would have took a point before the game & at half time, but that was disappointing in the end!

Oh well, at least we didn’t lose. We’re not finishing 7th, so just want the season over & hope for a massive clear out. (& desperately hope Moshiri gets recruitment right this time, because it’s been disaster up to now).

but the same happened to them against city this season . they just stopped working in the last 10 min . and city nearly equalized . i think they get get too tired to stick to their game play in the last 10 min and end up conceding . Soon Managers will realize that and start exploiting .

Don't let that last ten/fifteen fool you - we were dire.

They had two full-backs there, one who isn't a full-back - he's barely even a defender - and the other appears on Love and Hip Hop Miami and has been out for as long as I can remember and we didn't trouble them.

Allardyce Out.

This. It was an ordinary 10-15 against a shell of a Liverpool defence.....and considering that their actual first choice defence is prone to gaffes that's depressing.

It wasn't good, just relatively good in comparison to the dross beforehand.

Wow a kopite calling himself Jurgen, how original.

You have a staggeringly poor knowledge of Football, I naturally presumed Rugby was your game and you've simply ended up here by chance now that your village has discovered broadband.

My apologies if I misread the situation.
