Everyone was willing the team forward and our centre half was upfront, that isn't fans and players wanting the opposition to win.

Yes. But like a good number of others, the loss today is barely a blip on the emotional scale.
As I've said before, no one on here was cheering City's goals strictly in the context of us losing the game, but the holier-than-thous seem to forget what impact helping the Turds win the title would have on us -- the club and the supporters -- in the long run.
Be content you wanted Everton to win. In your insular world, that's all that matters. However, even though I live thousands of miles away from Merseyside, I can still appreciate the bigger picture and what the ramifications might have been (and what still might be if City don't take care of business). Doesn't make me or anyone else who feels the same way any less of a Blue.

Great post.

One of the most unedifying things over this past week on here has been this "holier than thou" attitude of the super fans.

Every bugger who posted in favour of us losing was quite obviously conflicted over it.

No one took that position readily nor were they happy about it.

But the super fans just tried to force their myopia down people' throats and tick off those who couldn't stomach EFC gift wrapping the title for them.

Everything changed last week with the hari kari exhibition at Saints.

Winning today would have left us no better off.

Losing has given us hope of a more tolerable summer.

Let's hope Chelsea screw the lid a bit tighter tomorrow.

Tell you want and I feel dirty saying this, Liverpool play the best footy out of the top three

If they weren't out rivals we would enjoy watching them and would prob want them to over turn City
Can't agree there, sorry.

This "best footy" thing is more or less sporadic, and it is always reliant on Suarez, it's rare that someone else would do something mildly spectacular (even though the media'd have you believe every pass "Stevie G" makes is absolute world class and is immense, as he reinvented passing just this season.

Lots of new usernames around tonight questioning our team's will today. Kopites, the most transparent tits in the universe. We go again against Hull our Kopite friends, rest assured of that.

I've never thought of it that way, i thought it was just on this planet but NO they are the scum of the UNIVERSE, FACT

I'm going off highlights tbf as I refuse to watch them

In fact ignore my post

LOL

Bittersweet result - didn't get to watch it - 2:30 am kickoff time for me and have stuff to do today (hence why I'm up typing this at 5:30 am :) ).

Looks like we had ups and downs in this match - Barkley's goal was wonderful but some defensive lapses meant we couldn't control the game.

Sad that we lost and doubly so given the situation - 4th was technically still possibly but highly unlikely and Liverpool can still win the title even with our loss today.

I think things would have been a lot clearer and calmer for some of us if either 4th was likely with a win or the RS would definitely not have won with a Man City win.

A big plus would have been from all the shirt sales this week to the RS fans I could see celebrating our goals in highlights. Whole sections were full of them - because our fans wouldn't have been cheering them would they :p (well not according to the kopites - who have apparently reverted to their normal selves at the whistle )
