Pickford has a blind spot for shots from outside the box. This has been an area Bruno Fernandez has exploited against him on more than one occasion and will - as a certainty - do again on Wednesday. He also scored a similar one v Leeds yesterday as did mctominay. Perhaps the wall of four CB’s might help if they push out to smother such opportunities but you’re then vulnerable to a through ball to rashford. I’d try Olsen to counteract this obvious point of vulnerability.

I’m not a sheep who follows the crowd, he looked a player today. It’s an irrelevant debate anyway because he won’t be playing.

Let’s not put major importance on this game like saying this is the true test etc. Or that this the game we could lose the ‘Everton that’ tag. We already have in my opinion. Our great start has been justified as not a fluke by how we have dispatched of 3 former prem champions big six clubs on the bounce. This is a luxury result for me, one we can defo achieve but no bleach if we lose. But admittedly I think Sheffield is extremely important as let’s face it beating them 3 and losing to a Sheffield that hasn’t won yet would be ‘Everton that’ of old. Beat Sheffield and city is another free hit for me. And we should beat west ham but if we beat Sheffield I wouldn’t cry over a draw. Then we are set up for the rest of the season.
