Thanks for your replys lads.

I'm quietly confident for Wednesday and I think it will be very different than the league game when we crumbled for 10 minutes.
RS can crow all they like about their European history. Our players have played in more European games than theirs have, so I don't think a few flags and noise will phase them.

Kompany looks to be over(touch wood) his injury woes and should play against RS, he will make a massive difference. Also our midfield magician David Silva will probably play, both were missing from the league game. Aguero was tested yesterday, he'll be available.

I know that wasn't pleasant viewing for you guys but sometimes you just have to accept being beaten by a better side. I've seen every game played this season either live or on the box, and many of those games we've gone 2 or 3 up and took it easy on teams.
Liverpool are a good side and can beat us for pace upfront, but if we start like we did against you and go 2-0 up on 12 mins, then the kop will be as quiet as a graveyard. Like I say, I'm confident of getting through.

Hopefully we'll look back in 6 weeks time and see the game is something that helped Fat Sam get binned

Anyone who is a real football fan would of enjoyed that mate. I still have to pinch myself at times, and we will get better still I think.

I remember Arsenal thrashing us at Maine road in the 90's. I stayed behind and clapped them off the pitch. Arsenal I mean, not our donkeys!

I'd call myself a football. I enjoy watching City a lot.

But absolutely don't enjoy it when we're on the receiving end. Hope you understand.

At times yesterday @Maine road Man, the football you played was scintillating, however I genuinely don't think you got out of first or second gear.

Unfortunately for us it reminded me of a training match and we were fortunate that you didn't up the ante as it would have been a cricket score.
Like I've previously said. We go 2 or 3 up and ease right off to conserve energy for up and coming games. But I thought for 35 minutes we played as good as anytime (arguably) this season. Not too many times have we needed to be in top gear TBH, although Chelsea and Napoli away we hit top form.

I can only see us becoming better under Guardiola. I know we have spent big money, but he brought his managerial philosophy to this league and applied it superbly, many thought his tactics wouldn't work. I ate a slice of humble pie, very tasty actually.

For once can you hit top form at Anfield please? Although I’m still waiting for the Kompany Silva training ground clash putting both of them out the match. I’m sure there’s some unwritten rule preventing Silva from ever playing at Anfield.

Of course i understand mate. I don't know how old you are but older football fans can remember when City were shocking to watch, and we were mostly shocking for over 30 years!

What's the excuse now Sam? For me the problem is not Bolasie or Scheinds but it is BFS. The game showed up the limited managerial abilities of BFS.

Silva is in top form right now, and although he's a world class lock picker, we have other players who can change games. De Bruyne is also having a great season, as is Fernandinho. We also have Sane Sterling Bernado Jesus and Aguero. And our defence is much improved this season. Ederson has been superb making very few errors in goal. His biggest error was when Salah lobbed him.

Don't worry lads. We'll do our best to turn candlepool to silence. We may not win there, but I really can't see us getting beat. I'm confident we'll knock them out over two legs. And i think we can go all the way.

Silva for me is the one who makes everything tick. Your record with him in the side is unbelievable home and away against any opposition. He is the one who threads those balls for Sane and Sterling to do damage behind the lines. Similar to taking Iniesta out of Barca, they’re still a tough side but not the same. Silva draws so many players in and around him and is good enough to play out of any press. You didn’t have that at Anfield this season so when they pushed you it led to mistakes and the likes of Sterling and Sane trying to create stuff on the half way line rather than doing what they should do.

If Silva and Kompany play both games you have a great chance. My fear is that in big games Liverpool are yarddogs especially at Anfield knowing that it takes a brave ref to take action. They’ll target Silva the way they have done to other top players in the past hoping to put him out of the game early.

Realisitically we all expected a loss, you're far and away the best team in the league this year.
What gets to us is the manner in which we lost.
Our dinosaur manager picking our slowest and least aggressive midfield pairing available set the tone.
Players not wining their tackles and standing off for the goals.
Bolasie missing that sitter, you can't afford to miss chances like that against top sides.
Two things that stood out for me, the glaringly obvious attempts to punt it down the left to a trio of tosun, dcl and walcott, and the through ball for walker in behind bolasie. Both tried repeatedly, both never came off, yet no attempt to change...
Our upturn in effort clearly came as you guys put the foot on the brakes, the game was won by halftime and had we got a second it always felt like you had a couple more gears to go through if needed

Can you not talk about Everton in this thread please mate? A city orgy is taking place right now. Bend over and keep quite about all the things actually wrong with that club.

I agree entirely mate, well almost. You forgot to mention De Bruyne. He will play a big part as will others. Salah is their main threat, keep him quiet and we will nullify a big part of their game. It should be two high quality games, hopefully we will knock them out for you
