Abject surrender.
There were no 'tactics' worthy of that description evident today, just some outdated zonal defence method which effectively surrendered the initiative and the game the moment the ref blew the whistle.
We are currently dead in the water, a championship quality side from the boardroom down masquerading as a top league side. Better teams than us will be relegated this season and far better promoted.
This is not Everton it's a sad facsimile.
And I'm beginning not to care.
I wouldn’t go anywhere near that far but we deffo need change.

Less than 15% possession doe, against a club with absolutely no history whatsoever.. extremely embarrassing. 300m squad in our possession. Pathetic. Sack them all.

Goodison has been a graveyard for us for many years, but I was quite optimistic leading up to the game. The first half was great football from my POV. Some of the best we've played all season.

Our first goal that Silva hooked back for Sane's volley was top drawer. Had Bolasie scored to equalise it may of been a closer game, but everyone watching could see we always had an extra gear if needed. At 3-0 we took out foot off the gas, obviously saving energy for Wednesday. I'm happy tonight:dance:

Don't bottle the games against the RS please... bad enough that they are going to be the only team to beat you this season, it would be unbearable in the media if they knock you out...

I agree with you to an extent, but really from Arsenal downwards all the teams are pretty poor, I think that was shown in the Palace RS game and our game v City. The truth is we had no coherent transfer policy in the summer so we ended up with average players and players we don't need. I don't usually go the match, but went today, watching on tele you don't get to see how players perform off the ball. The snide didn't seem to run once during the second half as some fella shouted "be careful morgan you might need a shower" just about sums him up as a player.

Don't ever dare lose to that lot.

Especially not after that humiliation you dished out to us.

I get this is written post-match and if you were at the ground today (I wasn't), then hats off.

But why are we so worried about losing to one of the best sides in Europe? We're a squad in transition, with a mixture of young and new players, alongside those edging to the end of their Prem careers (though Baines and Jags would be in demand elsewhere).

Everyone knows Sam is a numbers man, and yes we could have been more competitive 1st half - the lack of closing down was awful for the all 3 goals - but why are castigating Sam after the start he had?! The fact is we've got a small chance of making Europe and the additions he's bought the squad (whilst giving young players a chance, too) is a plus as well. Look at where we started with Koeman, Walsh and the dross in our midfield - on display today again with MS, no Sigs, and Bolasie and Walcott not really present in the middle with an ageing Rooney.

Without 'throwing' games, there are obviously games he targets for points. Had Bolasie repaid his faith before they went two up today may have been closer for longer. If we make Europe after the mess Sam had to work with it's not much short of a miracle, given also the luck we've also needed with all the other teams around us showing patchy form too.

Heads up to the end of the season men!

P.S. By the way, I do find much of Sam's PR dire and agree totally with the guys in the BFS thread that perhaps end of season he should be replaced by a guy who can grow the team, but the way some of the fans are turning on him now will only damage the team and image of the club, too.

Sam has no clue how to run a game substitution wise. We begin losing and he immediately starts taking off attacking players (DCL) and replaces them with defensive midfielders (benni) - and takes off tosun our best striker in a most games just to keep his confidence low (after trying not to play him at all for weeks until he was pressured to by the fans).

If he stays we are doomed to be a bottom quarter/half club.because that's where he is most comfortable.

Thanks for your replys lads.

I'm quietly confident for Wednesday and I think it will be very different than the league game when we crumbled for 10 minutes.
RS can crow all they like about their European history. Our players have played in more European games than theirs have, so I don't think a few flags and noise will phase them.

Kompany looks to be over(touch wood) his injury woes and should play against RS, he will make a massive difference. Also our midfield magician David Silva will probably play, both were missing from the league game. Aguero was tested yesterday, he'll be available.

I know that wasn't pleasant viewing for you guys but sometimes you just have to accept being beaten by a better side. I've seen every game played this season either live or on the box, and many of those games we've gone 2 or 3 up and took it easy on teams.
Liverpool are a good side and can beat us for pace upfront, but if we start like we did against you and go 2-0 up on 12 mins, then the kop will be as quiet as a graveyard. Like I say, I'm confident of getting through.
