City are a class above everyone in the league so a defeat was always likely. The problem is being two goals down and out of the game after 15 minutes. We consistently failed to track runners or close down players in dangerous positions. We never made the most of the few dangerous attacking positions we did find ourselves in. The way Sam set us up meant we never really had much of a chance. Those things need to change if we ever want to finish higher than 7th.

It’s become very clear Allardyce has blagged his entire career, no way should he be anywhere near top flight football.

I get this is written post-match and if you were at the ground today (I wasn't), then hats off.

But why are we so worried about losing to one of the best sides in Europe? We're a squad in transition, with a mixture of young and new players, alongside those edging to the end of their Prem careers (though Baines and Jags would be in demand elsewhere).

Everyone knows Sam is a numbers man, and yes we could have been more competitive 1st half - the lack of closing down was awful for the all 3 goals - but why are castigating Sam after the start he had?! The fact is we've got a small chance of making Europe and the additions he's bought the squad (whilst giving young players a chance, too) is a plus as well. Look at where we started with Koeman, Walsh and the dross in our midfield - on display today again with MS, no Sigs, and Bolasie and Walcott not really present in the middle with an ageing Rooney.

Without 'throwing' games, there are obviously games he targets for points. Had Bolasie repaid his faith before they went two up today may have been closer for longer. If we make Europe after the mess Sam had to work with it's not much short of a miracle, given also the luck we've also needed with all the other teams around us showing patchy form too.

Heads up to the end of the season men!

P.S. By the way, I do find much of Sam's PR dire and agree totally with the guys in the BFS thread that perhaps end of season he should be replaced by a guy who can grow the team, but the way some of the fans are turning on him now will only damage the team and image of the club, too.

..and none of their key players got injured.

It’s sad, though. The reality is it would be great to be competitive, throw in tackles and have a right good go.
Couldn’t agree more @Eggs. The saddest part of the game (and it’s happened far too regularly under all our managers this season) is that we just didn’t compete.

hahaha there were people saying "I've got a good feeling about this one"

hahahaha imagine thinking these frauds were getting anything off the best team in the world
Hope u are right about the last bit when they play in midweek.Best team in the world.No.

The way he set us up today showed he hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing, DCL may well have just not been playing, he was lost, you pack the midfield against City everybody knows that.

The highest percentage of possession of any away team in the history of the Prem, why did this happen?, the manager’s setup and tactics that’s how, he just throws crap at the wall and hope it sticks every frigging game.

Today was like the death of Everton.

A soulless, passionless performance on the pitch and a resigned acceptance off it.

There was barely a boo at half time.

I left in disgust with five minutes to go so I don’t know if there was any reaction at the final whistle.

No wonder the club are panicking and chasing up those existing STH whom have not renewed yet.

I have renewed already but I can see my daughter getting more use out of it next season than me if this seemingly relentless drift continues unabated.
