Playing a midfield five seemed to somehow prevent us from being carved open with ease, we should stick with it.
Yep.....can't argue with that. But we need goals also from the midfield 5.
We could play well. Like today. But our defence are almost nailed on to balderdash everything up. So we need goals. We need the midfield to start chipping in with a few goals. Allen......nothing. Iwobi......not much....
DVDB......nothing yet. Gordon.......not enough. Doucoure ......not enough.
So I do agree that a strong midfield keeps us in matches. But we now need to start winning a few matches. So maybe it's time for Gray to come back. Townsend knows how to find the onion bag. And Ali also knows how to score. It's good that we have these players all now fit. I 'd go for the guys that can score goals. Allen and DVDB to break up play. And any three of the other five to hopefully score a few goals. Onyango is sidelined for this season . Don't think that he will be used much... Up The Toffees.
Ps.......DCL adds to the equation when fully fit. But only when fully fit.

So Ali would be part of a front three effectively.

Alli in one of the two CM's positions wouldn't work. Not with this bunch.
Depends on whether we are on top and in possession
potentially VDB and Ali can make that happen with 3 of Gray Richarlison Gordon and DCL in front
It'll get down to Alli being more defensively aware but that where Frank may come in
I can't see us starting to much with this but Alli for Doucoure could be an option to finish off matches more than start.

I'd be bringing Alli on at the moment when in good positions rather than backs to the wall and was surprised when Frank brought him on.
Good to see him tuck in, and get stuck in, with the rest, in this one.

Obviously the result is incredibly disheartening, especially in the context of our desperate and precarious situation.

However, our last two matches at home have been amongst our best performances of the last decade! Why is it that we have been so impressive in our last two home matches and yet we’ve been unable to perform as impressively away from home?

Man City will win the league at a canter and will almost certainly win the Champions League, too. And yet we made them look ordinary at times today.

As an aside the fans were brilliant today for the second match in a row.

Just back. Allan MOTM for me and probably the best game i've seen him play. Ref and at least one of the liners were just terrible. Frank has got them running and fighting so well pleased to see that at least.
