In Malawi their FA did that back in the Bingu wa Mutharika-days. Bingu eagerly checked the Flames' FIFA ranking and at one point they cancelled a couple of exhibition matches against the Mozambique Black Mambas b/c teams around the Malawians in the ranking table had lost their matches, which meant Malawi rose a couple of notches = bonuses to the local FA bosses. If we never play, we'll never lose
And Benitez will never get sacked

Absolutely and it’s going happen time and time again. The problem will be when the select few start complaining they can’t fit the games in and play in Europe, no doubt the season will then be halted! What a mess.
They should just cancel the whole season and be done with it at this point because this is becoming a farce. Everyone will be playing three games a week for the rest of the season (four games if you've got cup commitments!) until June at this rate.
Don't forget next season starts earlier on 6th August due to the December World Cup.So they’ve moved one period of fixture congestion to another period as the season won’t be extended.
Not much benefit there
or they'll be promised at least 2 favourable VAR decisions per game as a bonus for playingAbsolutely and it’s going happen time and time again. The problem will be when the select few start complaining they can’t fit the games in and play in Europe, no doubt the season will then be halted!
The clubs are getting karma really, the opportunity was there to just halt things over Christmas to get the risk down and they agreed not toPremier league brought this on themselves.
It's farcical what is happening.

The Premier League have got themselves to blame for this .. if clubs don't get what they want now they cite precedence and get lawyered up
