OK. Looks like Ijjy and Goat are on their period and Chico is, as usual, taking a well earned break. It's down to a rank amateur like me to try and serve up a fun and informative preview. Don't hold your breath on that score.

What about those blues hey. how boss are we? remains to be seen really but when the important things in life (You know, family, health, jobs) are sorted there's nothing better than watching Everton win. And when there not it can give you a little lift.

Next up we welcome the good (but slightly odd) folk from Norfolk to Walton for a secon round 'League' cup tie.

A quick glance at ceefax (only kodding) tells me they're second in the Championship. This could be good for us as they should really be concentrating on their league form and maybe resting key players.
Why on earth am I worrying about Norwich's key players ffs?

I'll be honest I'm not sure who their key players are much less their bench warmers.

I'm thinking Robbie Brady, Wes Holahan, Russel Martin and Ruel Fox. Oh yeah ex blues Naismith and Ruddy
Oh what the hell, we should batter these with our under 18s

So what's our line up? no idea tbh. Maybe Robles in goal. I'd imagine Holgate will get a game and in light of Lukaku's knock Valencia might get a start. Cleverley in to give Barry a rest and Del in for Bolasie.
Does Gana need a rest. He doesn't seem to but I get tired just watching him.

I'm running out of ideas now so it's your turn to take baton and run with it.

Come on Blues. Do it to them before they do it to us.

Solid performance off the bench sir. Nice Ruel Fox reference, avoiding the predictable Mike Walker diatribe. 2-0.

I thought we might have seen Gibbo this game. Was surprised to hear he's injured.

I would've been more surprised to hear he was fit and available! Agree in principle, and he was a player I rated and I had high hopes for but for whatever reason he's missed his window with Everton. Lord knows how he got two more years.

The competition for top four this season is outrageously tough. Realistically we need to win one of these cups. We are desperate for silverware. We got close last season twice. We need to go at least one step further this season...and after all we should do, given we have a 'better' manager this season.

Dave K I admire you.

Everton now have cash but no standing after Martinez's miracle and find it extremely difficult to attract players.

Cash alone isnt enough and with the new backing there is a limited opportunity to vastly improve our status, only a top six finish with real prospects of better can change this.

We will always find it difficult unless we sustain good premiership finishes, league form is key, surely the summer has shown this.
europe. we need european football, end of.

Our tickets haven't come for this game, gonna have to ring the club first thing and hope they cna sort tickets at the ground now. Hassle.

I absolutely fume at things like this mate. Hope you get sorted, but you're right it's hassle.

You're gonna have to suspect your postie now we're playing well.

Apparently all kinds of deals were in place for top class players and they didn't sign because they were either at CL spot clubs or were looking for CL spot clubs as well as cash. So it didn't matter if we'd had a nosedive for two seasons as it would have been the same if we'd finished 7th a couple more times.
Well of course it matters, to foreign eyes Everton's two finishes among the midtable nobodies and perennial strugglers of the league gives the impression of a team going one way and its not up.

Everton need to be either in the top four or failing that look to be knocking on the door as Spurs have in the last few years, finally cracking it a few years back with Harry Redknapp and last season with Pochettino. When they didn't qualify they were challenging and looked to have the potential.

Really top players will gravitate to City, Utd and the top London clubs but we must be in the market for the next best.

The damage which two successive seasons among the basement dwellers and just above do to a clubs standing and reputation lasts beyond those two years themselves, yes its champions league clubs first then those who are knocking on the door then the rest, we need to move up a category or two.

These players are mercenaries mate. Do you really think if they cant land one of our regular CL playing clubs they think "well, who finished 5th and 6th? I'll go to them"? Do they bollocks. They and their agent look at the wages they'll earn, the city they'll be in, and the stadium they'll play in. If all that package was at a club that finished mid-table they'd go for that club over and above any club that didn't have that package but finished 5th or 6th in the PL.

after much consideration i think we should go with

---------------------------Robles-------------------------------

Browning------Holgate---------------Mori--------------Oviedo

Lennon--------Davies--------------Cleverley-------------Kone

----------------Valencia------------Niasse---------------------

if we can't beat norwich at home with this line up then we may as well go home.

It will have gone next door by mistake. One side of us is a coffin dodger who is in the order of getting an ASBO, and the other side are two morons who felt the need to put a traffic cone at the front of their driveway... because two others in the street did so. I really don't know WHY either, all it achieves is them having to get out of their car to move it when they get home each time.

They won't pass them on if it's been delivered to them.

These wont be easy to beat, they are playing well and scoring goals.

I would field a strong team, maybe rest one of the central pairing and play Mori, bring Holgate in at RB for Coleman.

Give Del a start. Rest Barry if possible.

I would start Rom if hes fit?

Rom confirmed as being out for tomorrow mate and Valencia starting. Said he should be fit for Saturday though
