Second season syndrome with Pienaar. Maybe he put the work in last year to earn a move and now he subconsciously thinks he can coast through games. Peanuts was probably the main supply line for Jelavic, so he's suffering too. The defence normally doesn't get it's act together until about now. We've hardly had specialised defensive midfielders all season and we're much more open as a team this year.
Makes sense. but I'm too gutted to accept logical explanations at the moment. I need some kneejerk stuff that I can relate to in my current frame of mind. No shortage of that on here so I'll go and get my fix and I'll be sorted.

I think we played well considering we where missing Fellaini, Mirallas, Gibson and Coleman. Oviedo looked very good, Naismith is getting better Hitz is getting better but, the Central Defenders looked so shaky it's not even funny. Definitely the weakest part of our squad and it needs addressing ASAP.

Jelavic, on the other hand, I don't is off form like many have said, yes he has missed some good chances but, he really haven't got enough service this season. He looks very isolated, and it's not his fault. He is not the type of striker who will go deep to get the ball, make a run at a defender and unleash a shot from outside the area, those who can do that play for Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United. Jelavic is a predator, a Boss Slotter like many here call him. So Moyes needs to find a way to get him more involve. He need more than long balls and corners to score.

Shocking day for Moyes. From 20 minutes on our play started to get worse and worse. Pienaar was having a nightmare of a match, Holt was too much for Heitinga to handle, and Jelavic wasn't doing anything...

...Barkley should have came on for Pienaar around 55 minutes, Hibbert for Heitinga - with Jagielka going back to CB around 60 minutes, and around 75/80 minutes bring on Vellios.

Days like this make me miss the Straq, because he may have not been a good finisher, but he would have done a hell of a lot more than Jelavic.

At least we scored a great goal.

The move in the first half which ended up with Baines having a shot saved and then Osman hitting his shot into the ground was up there with the best we've put together this season. Fantastic stuff. We've got that in us even with players out so I'm hopeful for Wednesday. We'll be itching to put this right and it's great to have a chance to do it so soon after, under the lights, at Goodison.

As far as the defensive issues go, you need a settled back four, specially the CBs. I don't know why he has picked between Distin and Heitinga and disturbed the back line. Heitinga could have bee deployed in the middle to give us a holding mid who could tackle. Duffy needs to be given chances now.
They will respect Arsenal too much on Wednesday and will end up conceding. Start with Pienaar on the left and keep him there. Let him and Baines work it out. Fellaini and Jelavic up front with Naismith/ Oviedo on the right. Distin and Jagielka at CB and Hibbert RB.

It's very hard to write a critique of the game when it was such a nothing event.
There were 'some' might've beens but not much there for the neutral
So in no particular order...
Come back Coleman all is forgiven;
A limited fullback ( Neville, Coleman, Hibbert ) is better than NO Fullback ( Jagielka )
Howard; that much of a Flapper ( or is that fapper ) he could get a job in the remake of The Roaring Twenties.
Jags; see No Fullback above.
Heitinga; the baldest fuzzy-wuzzy I ever saw...he deffo does not like it up him in the shape of a Holt or the other big b*gger that ripped him a new one the other week.
Distin; OK
Baines; Good
Oviedo; OK
Hitzleberger, OK
Osman;OK still can't shoot for sh1t
Naismith; scored a good goal but what a poor cross, barely OK
Peinaar; you can't fault his guts at going in for the tacklr but I was wincing 3yds before he even got there had sick note all over it, I think If Moyes had ANY option on the bench he would've been off and Iced up as a precaution.
Jelavic; Ordinary, but you have to stick with him coz who else ya got?
Moyes and the subs; well whats he going to do,
Mucha; must be crap if Tim keeps him out
Hibbo; mus've only been there to make up the numbers
Barkley; why bring him back at all.
The rest just bods on the bench.
Moyes; some have had a go at his none proactive approach to subs...but your winning, just, with 1 +the standard 4 to go. He got caught the other week bringing Distin on, you have to back the men you have on unless it is an injury
5th? we're bl**dy luck to be there

W'Brom have EFC 04-05 written all over them
And if we don't get it I hope they do.

The game showed that even if everybody is fit and some here think we are a top 4 team, the reality is that our squad certainly is not and is very average.
The first few games flattered to deceive, great to watch but an unsustainable level.

However, we have shown we do have the potential to frighten teams. I do not think player for player that WBA are better than us, but they are showing a greater resolve to go and win games.

COYB.

Sebastien Bassong netted the equaliser that Norwich deserved – and he did not need a baton to do it!

The big defender, fined £1,000 for possessing a police-style club.

I don't even know what to say about that game it was so bizarre. What happened to the team from the first half? Did we get rained out? Everyone looked so disjointed (minus Baines who was wonderful as usual) and our CB pairing is a horror show right now. When did that happen????

Oviedo looked much better, but he appeared in the first 20 and the last 20. Want more consistency. But that was SO MUCH better than what we had seen previously for the reserves that I never want to see Gueye come on the pitch over him again. Nice job son.

Naismith undid a decent first half with a miserable second, including that pass that was just...well...ugh. With that said, it was pouring rain, so I'm going to cut him some slack and say that he does look like he's finally settling in.

No idea what is going on with Pienaar.

I know we are scapegoating Howard apparently, but he made three saves, and then missed the fourth. Life of a GK. Bummer. I thought his form was back until the last shot. He is PISSED I'm sure. I expected him to save that last shot, he didn't. He looks a little short of confidence back there for some odd reason, or the pouring rain didn't help him either.

I just don't understand how disjointed we look right now.
