Match Thread Everton v Notts Forest. Sun Dec 29th. 3pm

You have more faith in them than I do, he should have been launched the second they signed that contract, did his performance previous to them not count then? Did that not happen, just matters what happens now?

See, they don`t mean what they say, its all BS... they are absolutely accepting this crap OR HE WOULD BE GONE!

why don’t they mean what they say ffs lad

they’ll sack him

….of course the Manager is accountable but I’m not in the camp that blames Dyche for absolutely everything. He can only play the cards he’s been dealt and he has a very mediocre hand to play with. Before the game the argument was whether Lindstrom should start, I suggested both were mediocre and it didn’t make much difference.

It suits Forest to sit back and play on the counter, the difficulty we had was them scoring early which played into their comfort zone. I don’t think it was a case of attacking more, I just think we raised the tempo a bit. Patterson certainly helped in that regard but I think we’d have still been playing now and not scored regardless of manager.
It's not just about today, when was the last time we actually went out to try and win a game, rather than hope the opposition give it to us? A manager worth their salt looks at the players available and fits them into a system that gets the best out of them. Dyche just lines up 4-5-1 hoofball no matter who we're playing. I don't blame him for the fact we've had to sell decent players and buy cheap ones ( not the DOF's fault btw, not that he's unearthed many gems, but he is operating with his hands behind his back thanks to Brands and Walsh), but I do blame him for not using Everton's greatest asset, the crowd. Win some tackles, press high and energetic, scare the bejesus out of the opposition. I was no Joe Royle fan, but his kind of "fear nobody" mentality is what's needed here, not the cowardice shown by Dyche!

Cant solely blame Dyche for today.

However, you talk about partnerships on the pitch. The only one i saw in an attacking sense was Patterson & Lindstrom.

Those 2 probably never factored into Dyches thinking before desperation took hold today.

There was also nothing we saw of play / training in attack....

What do you think?

Never going to be a different outcome.

Forest average around 30% possession and as soon as a team give us the ball, under Dyche we have no clue what to do with it. Playing bigger teams suits us as we don't have to think, we can defend and have the ball sporadically. Playing teams who want to soak up the pressure and hit us and we are lost completely.

I think it is a matter of wehnrather than if we go down, the likes of Fulham, Brentford Bournemouth Brighton even Palace are progressing year on year. If we got a progressive coach in tomorrow I think it would be a bridge to far to get these players playing a better style. That is how far we have fallen. It is serious this. Dyche has had this team for 2 years and yes they aren’t bad without the ball. But with the ball we are like an under 9s team.
If we got a progressive coach in they would have Pickford, Patterson, Branthwaite, Chermiti, Broja, Mangala to work with. Not all of our squad are old, slow and useless.

If we could be the 'new' Joe Royle team id be made up.

Youre right about the crowd, hard to tell today whether we should have gone front foot from the start.

Our starting full backs had terrible games from an attacking standpoint and i thought they and the centre backs looked shaky from the start.

One things for sure...our 11 starting looked scared to hit the ljne and put a cross in
