There are no excuses for not winning this.
9 days off. More or less full strength.
Plenty time to prepare tactically .
Confidence and team spirit high.
If we Don't win it is because mentally we don't get it right.

Sheffield United won at Old Trafford. Burnley at Anfield. West Brom drew at the Etihad. No one has a divine right to beat anyone. We need to be at our best otherwise there’s a chance they might be and then we’ll lose.

It's our inconsistency that always gets me: expectations of winning that are soon washed away by a desperate performance; we then go and beat a top team.

Without ignoring our poor home form, it's been a positive to see us winning at Spurs, the RS and getting a draw at United, where we'd normally be rubbish.

If Carlo can break the voodoo of places like the Emirates (still never won!) and Stamford Bridge, I trust him to be able to rekindle our usual good form at home.

A confident win against Southampton would be a good start to help build momentum.

The saving grace is that it’s easier to solve the problem of how to beat poor teams at home than it is to try and beat big teams away. We’ve gone too long not beating some of these big teams away so although it’s annoying to not be winning at home and we need to sort it out at least it’s not like watching the same season we’ve been watching for about 15 years unfold again: middling start, disaster Christmas period leaves us int he bottom half, out of both cups by end of Jan, no derby wins, no wins at the top 6, start playing ok during Feb to win enough home games to finish top half. Repeat the next season.

Never said we had a divine right.
They are missing key players. If we play like we are capable we win. A performance like Fulham is inexcusable.
I agree with this. Given that Ancelotti has regularly and consistently beaten sides of all abilities over his massively successful career, one is led to the conclusion that the players are the ones in the spotlight if they prove themselves unworthy of his trust.

Carlo gets it wrong at times, but mainly because he seems to think his players are better than they are. He'll soon be disabused of that notion if they continue to let him down. Lots of our players are playing for their Everton futures in games like this. If they can be marshalled into a defensive shell that can spring from submission and defeat top sides, but are incapable of taking the initiative successfully against lesser sides, then they are simply not going to be good enough to play for this man for much longer.

Carlo is probably in the most powerful position an Everton manager has been since Howard Kendall in 1987. He could walk away to many glamorous offers, so the club knows it has to back him and the players know they have to perform. If they don't, I doubt he'll be the one on the chopping block.

Klopp-lite. It's enough to make you puke.

I'm looking forward to beating Southampton, specially after reading the comments their manager has made against our Blues. Plus it is time to send a message to the lower teams that we are a new force to deal with and it would be nice to finally win a game at home. Many reasons why we should win on Monday and I have faith we will!
