Just wait until you walk up the stairs and see the pitch for the first time. It's a moment that will live with you forever. Stop, take a deep breath and have a good look around. There really isn't a better view in the world.

I still love it even after 40+ years. Still get the butterflies. Still takes my breath away. It's just in us.

VVD is suspended, your story has stalled..

Gueye makes a routine pass to Lukaku's feet just outside the box. Lukaku frantically tries to control it, his body and legs flailing as the ball loops over his head and the he falls gracelessly into some pots and pans. That seems to be it. Virgil Van Dijk has it now after somehow circumnavigating his suspension. Barkley is in tears, and Lukaku has small cartoon birds flying around his head. All he has to do is maintain possession.

But wait.

VVD turns around and a large gasp can be heard as he smashes the ball into the roof of his own net. Scenes as he rips off his Southampton jersey to reveal an Everton kit underneath, and he ends up tearfully embracing the GSE, clearly not aware that they will turn on him 2 months later. Tyler shouts "mah gawd, mah gawd!!!!" as Koeman leaves the field to the tune of "No Chance in Hell"

Fin.

Didn't you read my great story???

To be fair we beat Leicester without Fuchs, Huth, Mahrez and Vardy all we need to do is best Southampton without Van Dijk, Redmond and Austin. It's not often we get lucky with these kind of things, it normally feels like we play teams just as they get into top form (like Chelsea) so we have to take advantage of this one too.

1-1 going into the 90th minute. Shane Long's opener gets cancelled out by Seamus Coleman bouncing a hard drive off Lukaku into the net. Barkley breaks down in tears after a particularly vicious tirade from a 12 year old as he took a throw-in. Some in the stadium are fed up with what they see and start leaving their seats to beat the rush.

One last attack.

I like the cut of your fantastical jib, sir!!

My first ever game other than a preseason kick a around in Australia!

Please Goodison, be at your best tomorrow! I have been waiting for this for a very long time!

Also any dodgy/spawny win will do!
Enjoy the day and savour every moment as it truly is special. Hopefully the dodgy day for the fixture won't dampen the atmosphere too much.

Southampton players can be excused for feeling tired. They must have played more games than any others in the Premier League, with the possible exception of Arsenal players. Although Arsenal have a much bigger squad, Southampton still beat them in the EFL Cup.

For some Southampton players, Christmas must have been their first midweek break since the middle of September! And they won't get much rest in January either. They seem to be holding up reasonably well under the stress.

But as they seem assured of their Premier League place, I think that they may have their minds on their cup games today.

Last game; Southampton 1 West Brom 2

Presume we won't see barry today. Can't start 2 games in 3 days surely. So I'd expect Davies to start as ain't any other real options anyway. Could possibly go 3 at the back too.
But they are in worse form then we are. Need us to play with the intensity of arsenal and first half v the rs. Here's hoping
