Yes they are, my point is, a good manager can get the most out of average players though, be it through motivation, coaching, tactically etc. If the payers are at fault, a good Manager will have a word, change things, do whatever he thinks might improve them.

We'd be notably better if we had a player like Giroud or similar. Someone who has a bit of presence and can hold the ball up.

We need a players who can get the ball up to a forward first.

Agree with you, but the trend is there for extra protection of the defence.

I don't like it either, but that's the reasoning behind it.

Which would be great if they protected the defence.

I think it works for some teams who have got 4 outstanding players in positions further forward. The likes of Arsenal spring to mind in that respect.
