Yes but he's also a 30-something fullback with multiple ankle surgeries being asked to get forward with 10 men. I agree he should've covered round better but I'm not going to lay the blame at his door as at least two other people could also be described as being at fault.
Oh defo, Keane was the biggest culprit, and the crosser should have been closed down better too. If Mina or Zouma was in Keane's position their extra height would have made a difference and that goal isn't conceded.

it was a tongue in cheek comment anyway as I knew you were talking about his involvement in our goals.

But the thing with Baines is that, with his injury record, he can't play every week, and now we have a top drawer left back to rotate him with we should be using him to keep Baines fresh. I actually think this is an ideal game to give Digne his first start, and it would be interesting to see how he dovetails with Richarlison.

It isn't about dropping Baines for having a poor game. It's about what's best for the squad. Keeping Baines fresh and introducing Digne today rather than, say, against Liverpool because Baines had a poor game the week before. I want to see Silva being pro-active in his team selection rather than reactive.

In addition to introducing the new players, Silva also has 6 or 7 youngsters he needs to develop this season. Players like Davies, Holgate, Kenny, DCL. Dowell and your boy Lookman. Maybe even Beni. He isn't going to do that by playing the same eleven week in week out. It's a fine balancing act but I'm hoping he's going to be up to it.

Like I said originally I'm like everyone else in wanting to see Digne integrated asap just didn't know if Baines should be dropped for just the second game.

Like Marco keeps saying though these are the tough decisions he wants.

Digne is the LB at the club. Baines is standing in only.

I douibt very much that Digne would have left Barcleona to play second fiddle to him.

But as I said. It's not a question of being dropped. It's a squad game. Foreign footballers are used to this but English players, and fans for that matter, find it harder.

Sure but I'd also find it weird as it's just game two of the season. No one is tired yet so I'm sure Baines would consider it being dropped.

Also not sure foreign teams rotate with any more frequency than teams with 4+ competitions do in England. Is there a stat you've picked this up from? Or just your feeling?
