3 defeats in the last 4 games is poor form
19 points from the last 3rd of games as opposed to 21 from the same period of our record breaking season last year...

Our form at the end of the season once players were uninjured and fully fit wasn't the problem this season.

that actually makes it seem worse - i.e. we have only had half a good season under RM

There have been many passionless games like this at Goodison this season.
They should be proud to wear that blue shirt wouldn't mind it's the new strip witch started with a loss in at least have a go and put a foot in to many players scared stiff to put a boot in.

Correct.

It a wasn't yesterday's result which was hard to take......it was the listless, clueless performance.

And it just can't be put down to it being the last day of the season.

Very, very true.

I can take defeat if I've seen genuine effort from our team only for the opposition to be better, but it's the manner in which we've succumbed too many times this season that is alarming and indeed worrying.
There seems to be an air of malaise about the club and that has to be addressed by those genuinely in a position to influence and affect it.
The fan base can only be expected to do so much in terms of ST sales, merchandise, vocal support etc, it surely has to be time for the powers that be to act.
Our club needs substantial to massive investment and if the current board are either not willing or unable to provide it, then they have to be prepared to stand aside/step down in order that others do/can. I find it very hard to accept that there is not some individual or group out there with a willingness to take on Everton so BK and the rest have to drop the assumed ridiculous price they're asking and/or profit they're expecting to realise... in order for the club to a. Survive and b. Hopefully improve.

We cannot endure another season like this one, as the fear within Goodison must surely be that the fan base will vote with their feet and simply not attend. I remember those dark days of less than 20,000 and as low as 13,000 for first team games and if this board are stupid enough to risk those days returning, then heaven help us.

I've renewed my ST's but much as I love the club and so many wonderful joyous memories as far back as my first game at GP in 1970 when we thrashed Chelsea 5-2 with Howie Kendall scoring before Chelsea touched the ball, I'm seriously concerned that those memories are all many of us will have in the future. I want some new memories to cherish as I get older and most of all, I want those memories for our younger fans who've never yet experienced the joy of seeing a league title won, an FA Cup victory and the almost orgasmic pleasure of that balmy, barmy night in Rotterdam.

My own interpretation of the season is that the players are playing to win and working hard, but they have been playing in a system which always seems doomed from kick off. It's all too predictable.

I don't blame the players. When the team underperforms every week, that is down to the manager not instilling enough confidence and desire. When the team pass the ball sideways for 90 minutes and have no cutting edge, that is down to the manager playing the wrong system and not utilising the strengths (and ignoring the weaknesses) of his players.

Martinez needs to learn quickly from this season, and this transfer window will make or break his Everton career.

While not disagreeing with your broader points, the days of 15,000 or 20,000 at GP are long gone. The game dominates british society through blanket TV and newspaper coverage in ways it never did in the 80s and 90s. So your potential supporter demographic is much larger.

Villa have been struggling the last 3/4 yrs at the bottom, yet they get big crowds still. Football and society has changed irrevocably

Exactly. The one way to subvert their 5 man midfield was to attack their defence. Get the ball out wide quick and get to the by-line.

We won at West ham thanks to two centres. How many decent centres were there yesterday? At 70 minutes, I thought finally mcGraedie would get a chance to shine or crash. But nothing. No wonder Lukaku looks like that he rather be playing lawn bowls.
