It was an improvement on the Southampton surrender but still a bit grim.we were much better defensively but the front 4 looked clueless. Especially naismith and barkley. I don't buy the theory that ross can't play left or right of an attacking 3 midfielders. Hes not exactly glued to the touchline.i also think naismith's suspension might be a blessing. Some people are saying the performance of the ref doesn't matter and we should be good enough to overcome it.i reckon it matters in a big way and we'd have won the game if he'd have done his job properly. The less said about stoke the better

Ross getting injured for me was pivotal in how our season has shaped. Had he not got injured we would have gone into the season pretty much the same as last:

Howard

Coleman Jagielka Stones Baines

Mccarthy Barry

Mcgeady Barkley Mirallas

Lukaku

and we would be much better off. Instead his injury allowed Naismith into the side whose purple patch in front of goal has meant RM has turned him into a regular starter and has cocked up our formations and team chemistry trying to accomodate him

Just thinking back to that second half performance and I can't quite wrap my head around it. We were all guns blazing toward the end of that first half, should've been at least level, then we came out and didn't create a single clear cut chance all half. Against Stoke. Whichever way you try and spin it they're a poor footballing team full of grocks.

What on earth did he say to them at half time? "You're passing it too quickly and decisively out there lads, pass it much slower and we'll eventually open them up"???

I'm at a loss at the minute. We look like we're totally out of ideas. And our full backs never seem to get in behind anymore, which is practically the only time we ever score goals. CUT BACKS to Romelu, because he gets bugger all clear cut chances to score. Pathetic second half performance.

For what it's worth, I reckon a lot of people are over analysing this. It's either a run of poor form, or the team needs an injection of gumption.

In short we have been poor, we should have beat Shitteh and Stoke, both were winnable games. We should not be tanked 0-3 by southampton.

We have the players, either they have become bad players or the tactics aren't working.......

In none of these games is the goal keeper making save after world class save........they may make one, may even at a stretch make two, but not a string of them.....and yet we sit at 60% possession.......

Jags to Distin (or Stones) to Barry to Baines to Barkley dropping deep, back to Jags to Mcarthy, back to Distin to jags to coleman to mirallas...runs a bit squares it to barry, back to jags, out to baines, runs and passes to lukaku it bounces off him at the first touch to a player on the other side........

Rinse and repeat........

For the second time, Naismith was in or around the first team last season as well. Stop scapegoating him.

Same fans calling for robertos head were sat cock in hand at every mention of his name this time last year. The very definition of fickleness.
