There's a lot of people throwing themselves out of windows...I'm just trying to talk them down.

Nobody is throwing ourselves out of windows. You are talking our players down, by saying we are worse than the likes of Stoke and West Brom, in order to cover for Martinez.

We haven't lost anyone of note (yet). The new additions, including the emergence of Barkley and Stones should improve us. Having the ability to keep the ball on the deck rather than launching percentage balls forward will be a big bonus. And having a plan b, c and d can be no bad thing either.

We conceded unfortunate goals against Norwich and we just couldn't put it away against West Brom. Our stats were worse in both games in the corresponding fixtures last year and we're only a point behind what we achieved back then.

CL is probably ambitious given that I don't think we'll score enough decisive goals, but I don't see why we couldn't repeat the feats of the last few seasons.

Dont tell Timak that, he'll be heartbroken.

On your point: we have to allow this man time in getting in a core of his own players. It used to be said that that's the only legitimate time you could pass judgement on any new manager...still holds true for me. He's inherited a solid group of players but who are a bit ponderous and he must want a bit more zip about our play that maybe only a few can adapt to, so he'll have to bide his time. I do take your argument on Stones/Barkley, who are quality and a blank sheet of paper for him to work on to expedite progress. We should be happy with top half this season and a good showing in the cups. As long as he looks like he's built a platform by next April/May then that is the target as far as I'm concerned and I'd look seriously at him achieving European qualification in season two. That is the only rational way of coming at this new manager.

We have a squad that finished in the top 6, having added 4 players, for the most amount of net spend we've had in years.

Lets take 10th as mid table. You think we should be finishing below the likes of Stoke? Liverpool? West Brom? Swansea? Do me a favour, we are miles better than those sides, stop talking us down.

we are not better than Liverpool. Being a better team means scoring goals and winning games, something they have players capable of doing.

Some extremely exciting young players coming through including the most exciting in the country, excellently talented squad with names such as Baines, Mirallas, Fellaini, Jagielka, great professionalism in the ranks, 6th place last year, biggest net spend in ages and we're supposed to accept finishing below teams like West Brom and Fulham because we're changing our style of play and not even drastically at that, it would appear?

No, not for me. 7th is fine as the sh*te have spent yet again, but lower than that is a poor showing unless someone has a Newcastle 2010/11 style season. 10th would be an absolute joke of a season and would hurt our finances, but we categorically will not place that badly.

Look, to all lads concerned about the 2 draws, yeeah it kinda is a results business so I see the concern. But ask yourselves the following questions if you watched both games:

Did we deserve to win those games? Are the positives to our new style of play? Were we unlucky in both games?

I personally think, yes, is the answer to all 3 questions. We just have to hope that if we keep consistently dominating matches then the result will come and it'll pay off in the long run. There'll more than likely be worse than these 2 matches this season so just be patient.

It looks promising for me thus far from, albeit little and frustrating, what I've seen so far.

only positive is barkley is now a regular starter

without him, we would have looked like everton in the walter smith era under martinez based on yesterday's performance. and jesus christ jelavic, run about will yer.

It sounds like you're covering your irrational dislike for a manager who's been here 5 minutes by pointing the finger at someone who's prepared to give that same manager time and calling it hero-worship. In fact, that's what it is.

Dislike, nah he,s just fookin clueless since he arrived here 5 months ago.

Lets see how we get on at Cardiff.

Relax. Mid-table whilst managing the shift that you blithely dismiss as unimportant is a reasonable early staging post. I could give a flying one what Newcastle, West Brom or whoever do. This manager's come in and explained his method and the road he hopes to take us down...forgive me for wanting to show a bit of patience to let the man roll it out. Maybe we all should jump up and down at the prospect of him losing the 7th Place Cup - because that's really something important to hang onto.

I understand people's frustrations mate, but come on. That's a ridiculous comment.

Clueless - yeah, I remember thinking that that feller on the sideline at Wembley, who masterminded his backwater club's victory over one of the most talented teams in England to win a trophy, looked a bit of a clown. It's a pity Moyes wasn't a clown, unfortunately he was a 'great success' who won the square root of **** all in 11 years of trying.

not this season... deluded blue mate if you think we will finish above them. We have Moyes players in a Martinez team. Osman, Fellaini, distin, jags cannot pass a ball. The whole team hasn't got good movement, you need to give the man money.
