He was dreadful, mate. Aside from the one where he came close where he did well I can't remember him doing anything but give the ball away really, aside from the one where he ran the length of the pitch to make a block clearance. Which was boss and probably wouldn't have happened a few months ago. So many times he had the opportunity to pass and fannied about with it instead.
In a weird way this is what I like. If a player has the confidence & ability to take players on, especially when they're capable of a bit of magic themselves, I say let them have a go. His efforts could have just as easily gone in and all too often the other players just seem to want to walk the ball into the net.

Still, a couple of times in the second half today he beat the first man, taking him out of the game, and laid a decent ball off instead of taking it all the way anyway. One incidence of this was he cleverly dinked the ball to Pienaar in the six yard box. He continues his development like this he'll be some player in the next few years. Absolutely no complains about him today.

Great point. You can't have it both ways. You can't criticise us for losing pretty and still criticise us when we win ugly without admitting you're an unrealistic perfectionist. I agree long-term trends of poor play need to be addressed but the odd game, especially when you still deliver a victory, can be glossed over.

Thing is mate too many of our fans think we should be the new barca or something, kinda forgetting that this is still less than a season into a radical change in the way we play, we are gonna struggle to be as fluent as we wish to be, but every game is a game further along the road. the time to start judging will be next season to see how we have progressed and adapted to push on the system/style and see where we are at.

For one we have progressed at a faster pace than i thought we would do in adapting, the deficiencies and holes in the squad to enable the system to work better and be more dangerous are being identified, and hopefully will be addressed in the summer

Strikers = goals = wins.

From when Lukaku went off injured until he came on today, we played 395 minutes in the league scoring 2 goals, firing blanks against Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and West Ham for the first 60 today. He's on for 20 mins and we have a goal and 3 points. Live long and prosper Obi Wan Lukaku, you're our only hope.

He was on the pitch for 73 minutes, like. And it wouldn't have been a goal of the season candidate. Plus, more to the point, it didn't go in. I've just lauded him for it, by the way, in case you didn't notice the laudingness.

Fair does Az, much like barkly, dele will do things that infuriate and excite in equal measure as he learns the game more, i thought personally he had a poor first 15 minutes today and slowly got into the game more and more before tiring a little near the end before being subbed, all about bringing him along imo

what i do know is that he just oozes quality, just he needs to start learning the intricacies of the game a bit more, defenders always seem to get more and more nervous throughout the game against him though, which in itself is a massive sign of what he brings

Pienaar did my head in way way more mate.

For example.

And someone told me Osman was playing. I didn't notice.

I thought Pienaar was outstanding, personally. Second half at least. First half he done my head in a bit, especially that one where we had a break on and he rolled it at a snail's pace and gave their defender time to make an interception.

Aye, he wasn't exactly Yaya Toure style imposing like but I thought Osman was decent this week. As he was against Spurs and Chelsea.

All opinions though mate.

And let's be honest. Who cares?! We won they didnt. Whop wnop.

Thing is Az, all of our players atm have a incomplete game with the possible exception of coleman and baines, its down to the staff to bring on their weaker areas without losing the things they individually excel at, a easier job with the younger lads than the older ones ofc, but its why i said about next year being a better judge to what martinez envisions us to be all about

Until then, sticking to his 'philosophy' (hate that word) even when its not working 100% is a good thing as it instills within the players that this is how we play at Everton

Of course, yeah. I'm not having a go at the team at all as I think Martinez is possibly the best person to ever walk the earth, just think Deulofeu was greedy today.

A bit like mirrales mate its very much a part of his makeup, annoying at times, and hopefully can become more of a team player as he develops and know the right time to be greedy if that makes sense

BBC

69% possession, 22 shots... 3 on target (WHAT!?!?!) Thank Christ we actually have a fit striker now.
