I don't want to be one of these people that call out the Lukaku haters just cause he scored but isn't that his 8th goal or something? 8 goals for half a season is a great return for a developing 21 year old. Like all he needs is another 5 goals this season and that is a fantastin return (for a 21 year old again) I hate it that he gets stick on here. I agree his hold up play and.first touch could be better and will improve but if you ask me even if them attributes don't develope (which they will) then I still am happy with him. He is a great striker, powerhouse really. His stats speak for themselves and we are lucky to have him and lucky he chose Everton.

Lay of him lads and make an assessment at the end of the season. As I said another 5 goals would be a fantastic return. Even the doubters have to agree he is capable of another 5 so morons can get oxy.

As Fuleco mentioned above it is clear that RM still has the team on his side.

Other positive points were the performance of Lukaku, who was strong and determined for the first time in a long term. The goalie did well and maybe he might be the solution after all. Oviedo and Besic were also positives. As was mcGready who turned the game.

Negatives for me was the line-up again. Barkley is a acm. Etoo is not a midfielder or a winger. Defending corners is a big issue. Taking corners is still an issue.

RM also has an issue at left back. I hope we can keep Oviedo and Garbutt and Baines. But can we? Oviedo is getting stronger all the time and although he was not perfect he has a great left peg and a really good attitude.

West Ham is a decent side, so in hindsight we did well to get the draw and some of the players showed fight. All in all it will probably just end up with another fixutre on a loaded schedule but the point is that we needed something.

We are playing nowhere near our best so quite pleased with the draw.As with all bad patches they come to an end and there were signs that the end is near tonight.Romelu was outstanding and looks back to his peak Besic is getting better and better and Robles showed that with a few more games he could actually be a top keeper. All we need now is Mcarthy back fit to replace the too slow Barry Ross to show some form by being brought central and Stones to sure up the back 4 and the mighty blues are back. Simple.

Has there been a video on the internet of Joel's celebration after the goal? I sit at the front of the Park End, one of the best keeper reactions to a goal I've ever seen. lol. I actually starting to like the dope.

Agree with every bit of that bar the Mirallas part. We all commented he didn't look interested from the first minute to being subbed. The liner on our side (Paddock) was the only one who had a worse game than Mirallas and the Ref. He'll be better against a footballing side like City though
Sorry i've been out so only just seen this, but fair play, I didn't necessarily mean that Mirallas played well... I just thought whilst he was on the pitch we looked like we had a bit more about us and a bit more width, which we then didn't see until a replacement winger was introduced

Glad we got the draw in the end and we definitely showed good fight towards the end of the match.

Some positives to take from the game for sure, but also plenty of negatives again.

Positives

Lukaku - Looked strong, powerful, and touches were better in general. Will always be our best striking option.
Stones returning, defence immediately looked more assured
Confidence visibly grew after goal and Lukaku's crowd lifting gestures

Negatives

Central Defence still looks abysmal - Jags looked horrendous again and on another day could have cost us 2 goals, Distin just as bad. Even if Stones stays fit we need a partner for him, I cant see Jags coming good again.

Formation/Shape - Still looks unbalanced and Martinez insists on sticking with this which is infuriating as every man and their dog can see how unbalanced and ineffective it looks at times. Cant shoehorn Naismith onto the field with Barkley all the time. And even the first sub took away the little width we had on the field.

Barry still doesn't look like he has the legs to keep up with opposition midfielders who appear far more dynamic than him.

Naismith - Seems to offer very little whilst occupying a berth in a pivotal AM role on the field. He cannot play there and not provide chances for Lukaku, it's just not feasible.

Another crap ref performance too, which is something that's beginning to grate now.

------------

We still need signings. For me a minimum of a Goalkeeper, Centre Back and at least one Winger. I also think we need an Attacking Midfielder with some creativity. Get those in and we start looking more balanced all over the pitch with options. Although i'm sure Naismith will still get on the pitch somehow.

New GK (Howard)

(Oviedo) Coleman Stones NewCB (Jags) Baines (Oviedo/Garbutt)

Besic (Barkley) McCarthy

(McGeady) NewWinger Mirallas (McGeady)
(Pienaar) (Pienaar)
Barkley (AM)

Lukaku (Kone/Eto'o)

If we signed an Attacking Midfielder I would personally drop Barkley back into the CM role and drop Besic to the bench for now, rotate and use him in some games with Barkley further forward or McCarthy rested instead. Unfortunately we wont spend the money that we need to, at least I don't think we will.

Ideal signings for me would be some or all of Perisic, Deulofeu, Shaqiri, a CB like that Lille lad Kjaer or another option, best GK we can lay our hands on.

Very unrealistic though.

Feels like 1993/94 all over - we lost 5 consecutive games that Xmas (hoping its not repeated v City but might be asking a bit much) and went six games without scoring.
I remember that season albeit a bit earlier and in LC we got a last gasp equaliser v Palace and smashed them 4-1 down there in replay only to go out v Man U next round.
Keep thinking to myself "come on Everton snap out of this" but we seem to falling short in all areas at mo. I must admit I am panicking and looking at the fixture we have left we MUST beat WBA and avoid defeat to Palace as a minimum if we are to avoid being in the mix for relegation come that last month of the season.

I hear what you're saying but this team has a lot more about them that that one did.

I feel a lot less worried after tonight.....I fancy we will take at least a point in Saturday, where previously a point was much as I thought we would get.

Another lacklustre uber trash performance. We drew against west f***ing ham at home. Poor all over the pitch. 2 defensive midfielders at home again and one of them is trash. To be fair Rom was slightly better than usual
Mate that was an improvement on recent weeks, Rom played very well I thought.

Confidence is a massive issue in football, at the moment the team is lacking, but that was a much better display and it's a start
