....mmm, suppose it depends on how the game goes. I'm looking at it as a real chance to turn things around. Expectation is low so the fans could really get behind the team if they show some form and effort under the lights in a Cup game. Saying that, if more of he same is churned up and we are on the end of a beating it could turn unpleasant.

Could be a real crossroads for RM.

Can you see Bill sacking Roberto Eggs? I'm talking, if he failed to win any of the next 3 with no upturn in performance.

wish this was on tonight now. tired of waiting!

I´d like to see the below team. But mainly I´d like to see some pressing from whoever lines up.

Robles
Coleman Stones Jags Garbutt
Besic
Barkley Baines
McGeady Lukaku Mirallas

.....I don't know, CCF, I really don't. Any Manager would be under threat after that run of defeats. Bill appears to really like RM. Whether he goes or not might well depend on the information Bill is getting from inside the dressing room. If there is the reported discontent and no sign of a fix then he might have to order a taxi.

Personally I hope RM turns things around but I have to say that his tactics are confusing me at the moment.

I hope he does too, he'd need a couple of very good transfer windows too to get the team he needs for his tactics mind. Someone mentioned to me the other day (in real life) about the team when he first came in. It was virtually unchanged for most the season. This season he's done nothing but switch it every single game. Might be time to stick to the best XI again.

just cant see why McGeady warrants a starting place, I'd try Kone and Lukaku up front, why not? give the big man a bit of help up there, could be the making of him, he needs to try something different, wasn't it einstein who said that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!!

Besides McCarthy it's got the potential to be our strongest line up (I'm not counting Howard because I have simply not forgiven him).

I wonder if we might see Oviedo get a start.

Maybe...but if the thing they are doing over and over again and failing at is the basics of football such as defending/passing/pressing/tackling and all that, then I wouldn´t call it insanity to keep trying to do all that properly.

But saying that I am one that am looking at the players as much if not more than the manager. I don´t see this magical tactical fix that will suddenly make these players stop individually playing badly.

Me too.

I would understand if things get much much worse that sacking him would be a normal response from most clubs, but I personally hope we get back on track even just with a lucky win because I still think given the chance to further refresh the squad to suit the style that he is the right man to get us more success than we have seen in a long time.

I guess we will see.

they're playing bad cos they're in a rut, confidence levels are rock bottom, line up constantly changing because of injuries, these things all contribute but I think the overriding factor is that the system (and tempo) they are playing isn't working and looks blatantly obvious that its not going to either - he sort of tried to tweak it with the barry experiment on new years day but that was a disaster, he needs to shake it up and quick, no problem with having a possession based philosphy but get us doing it higher up the pitch and up the tempo as soon as we hit their final third, a few crunching tackles every now and again wouldn't go amiss either just to let them know who we are!!!

Stones & Mirallas both available, McCarthy out. I guess we have to play Barry then even though I'd really rather us not. Only other option is Barkley and Besic at centre mid but that does leave the defence exposed which we can't afford to do against these. My guess would be:

Robles
Coleman Jagielka Stones Baines
Barry Besic
McGeady Barkley Mirallas
Lukaku

Bench: Griffiths, Oviedo, Distin, Garbutt, Naismith, Eto'o, Kone

This for me has to be the team

--------------------Joel------------------
-Coleman---Stones--Jagielka---Oviedo/Garbutt
-------------------Besic-----------------
-----------Barkley-----Baines----------
--Naismith-----Lukaku-----Mirallas---

Rather Stones not play considering he obviously wasn't 100% when he started the other week.

Jags and Distin I suppose.
