I hope he does too, he'd need a couple of very good transfer windows too to get the team he needs for his tactics mind. Someone mentioned to me the other day (in real life) about the team when he first came in. It was virtually unchanged for most the season. This season he's done nothing but switch it every single game. Might be time to stick to the best XI again.

.....thinking about the growing pressure, if we lose against City we could well be in the bottom 3 by the time we play West Brom. If we lose that it would be very difficult for him.

Il decide tonight after the draw how important this tie is.

A favourable draw and a decent chance to progress to the last 16 is not to be sniffed at.

A horrible draw tonight, and this game will become a bit meh for me.

He's been brilliant there vs Newcastle and Hull. Only player we've got who can play a through ball.

....I thought he was lost and chasing shadows against Newcastle. Ironically, when he found himself out wide he created 2 goal scoring opportunities (although I appreciate he created Mirallas' goal from a central position). Can't understand the logic of shifting him from full back when he is one of the best around in that position.

Lahm was THE best full back in the world and Guardiola shifted him to central midfield

Now he's arguably the best defensive midfielder in the world.

Not saying it will in this case, but it CAN work

Baines is not Lahm though mate
Which is why I said I'm not necessarily saying it'll happen here.

However, Baines is an elite level full back. Yeah his form has dropped the last couple of months - but so has everyone's in the team! He's still (in what we'd probably call a poor half season) got something like the 3rd or 4th most assists of anyone in the Premier League. And to be fair to him, when he HAS moved inside, he's looked one of our better players - not that he's had much competition for that dubious honour.

He's not Lahm, but there's not many full backs most would put ahead of him (certainly not before the last couple of months)

Very true. I think what baines needs is a dynamic left sided player that he can overlap with (a la Pienaar a few years ago) as opposed to being shoehorned into midfield. Then he'll be back to his best

Everton to win 9-8 after being 9-0 up at HT COYB!!! Good preview as well @toffee matt though I don't agree with your assumption that we will look at playing an inverted pivot triangle oblong dish formation as it just doesn't work for us especially if we are bringing Osman into the fray with just his standing leg to use due to the other one exploding whilst on sitting on the bog.
