I was surprised at the hubris that populated this place in advance of this match. We're a deeply unreliable outfit. Asking us to win five in a row is asking miracles. We are simply reverting to the mean. If we'd lost to, say, Chelsea, and won tonight you'd say we were par for the course. Instead, we beat Chelsea and lose tonight. A rollercoaster. And we'll continue to be up and down until the manager can get his players into a vast majority of positions. Too many fragile parts to our team to be reliable.

This year is already worst then last !!!!

We were crap tonight but people losing their minds over one result and poor (admittedly turbo crap) performance jeezs

perspective please
Yep this

We have the most Jekyl and Hyde fans going. Won 4 games at start and we made a song number 1 in the charts, lost a few in a row and Carlo was useless, won another 4 in a row and we could do a Leicester. Lose tonight and we are useless again.

Boring

Leeds?

And the United cup game and this one tonight shows how lacking in focus and self belief they are.

We're miles off being a top team in the making. It takes mental strength as well as good players (and we clearly dont have enough of them)
And we bounced back from that with a solid December, we bounced back from United by beating Sheff Utd.

Tough one to give to anyone but Doucoure with Mina close and if Gomes had a full 90 mins and played like he did when he came on then he would have got it.
Poor poor match and didn't like Holgate on the ball and Davies was poor again. Richarlison has become lazy and uninterested looking. Thought we actually missed Iwobi. DCL looks in need of a rest and despite not being provided with great service he didn't do anything of note when he did get on the ball. Think West Ham more than deserved it

...Gomes looked comfortable in that position a little further forward, be interesting if Ancelotti tries that.

In that situation, we really needed players who break the defensive lines by running past the opposition and drawing defenders. I think Doucoure tried that but love him or loathe him, Iwobi is that type as is Gordon in his best form.
Actually think we missed Iwobi running at them tonight. He does panic defenders. But he can create space for others. Their defence had a pretty easy time tonight

No point bothering mate. Its human nature, every club does it.

I agree that this game has to just be treated as one of those though. The positives this season is that we have a solidity which works well at teams who come at us. We still need to solve the quality issue and thats where we are. And until we do then invariably we will have moments of inconsistency in the best league in the world.
Bang on, mate, couldn't agree more with the second paragraph. I might be naive but I do believe that the attitude of fans has a role to play as well. Hope you have a great first weekend of the year nevertheless

I agree about singling out Coleman, but he along with many others on the pitch gave unacceptable performances. Yes some fans get carried away with a couple of wins, however what we are all sick of is abject performances like this when we had the chance to go second.

Did we not beat Sheffield utd to go 2nd only last week?
