We have been pretty dire through most of December. Sometimes we won, sometimes we lost. It's the performances that are an issue right now. If a couple of other teams start turning up against us we will start to struggle again.

Nail on the head. The performances have been largely poor but the results have been excellent. At some point that is going to catch up with you.

And the United cup game and this one tonight shows how lacking in focus and self belief they are.

We're miles off being a top team in the making. It takes mental strength as well as good players (and we clearly dont have enough of them)

absolutely agree mate , if you look , that first 11 beside Doucoure it’s the same team that finished last two season below average , no confidence, spirit , desire to win , to create something , when you see that DLC has to come all the way to the center to touch the ball instead to be in the box ready , when Richi is lost in space and look like autistic child that he wants to be leave alone , you named it ... I don’t see how we can finish season between fist 7 with this team , this is a long season and we had so much luck so far and every time when we need to show up and prove it that we deserving to be where we are we failed , can’t wait to see Davies , Siby, Bernard , Mina even Richi

I don't think that's fair. Both teams worked hard, that's why they cancelled each other out.

No both teams cancelled each other out because neither wanted to attack for the majority of the game. It took a lucky deflection to see a goal in the game. Go watch that first half back, no effort from either team, game at walking pace. Players were not arsed at all.

If you had said we would get 12 points from the last 5 games you would have been laughed at.
If you had said we would get 12 points from those games and still feel gutted, you would have been sectioned.
How we respond to this defeat will define our season. The next 2 league games are crucial.

We blew it. No way to sugar coat it, we bottled it and blew it.....

And that's it right there. That was a comical perfomrance from Richarlison. Brainless. Now he can't be dropped as we have no real competition to go in there and do that role?

There is Gordon, who when has played has been 'ok' at best, despite the hype he has got.. We lack in attacking footballers unfortunately.

Thought the defence looked pretty solid tonight. Coleman looks off the pace though, doesn't get close enough to block crosses and can't seem to run properly going forward.

The attacking options were dreadful though. Strangely we looked much better and more balanced when they scored. Gomes and Rodriguez looked tidy. Skater boy had a terrible game, his passing and tackling were abysmal.

Typical Everton to ruin our new year like that.

Doucoure best of a bad lot ....If Gomez could do what he did for a whole match we’d have something. Too many negatives today / wasted opportunity/ Everton that

Everton continue to ruin my birthday and have done for years. But that was a truly abject performance. I am scratching my head to remember a side so lacking in pace and creativity. We need to inject some serious pace into our right wing this window and get James and Allan fully fit ASAP.

You think we worked hard? Really? Had the players worked hard and we lost myself and 90% of those who are annoyed at us losing that game of football would be more accepting.

It was a half arsed performance. They're given a free pass in life, all the money they won't even need in their life and couldn't be arsed to try for 90mins.

THAT'S what people are mostly annoyed about. If they put the effort in and it was an 'off day' then that's what it would be put down to. It's sheer complacency and a severe lack of effort.

Both teams cancelled themselves out. We could have got the goal and won as well.
We didn't have the quality to get through them.
Carlo has said this team will have ups and down because he knows some of those players are not good enough

Its hardly an easy decision tbf

I voted for Gomes because he was bordering on half decent for about 20 mins. Not a lot to choose from.
