Its been a good first few months of the season but game's like tonight and the Leeds match show we arent ready for a top 4 push.

We need to make sure we don't slip up next week then target 6th place. Consistency is the issue going forward. Weve been very compact and hard to beat recently but when we've been bad, we've been very bad. Players need to have far better standards when they are not playing at their best.

Ultimately we need to continue overhauling the squad and adding far more quality. While we continue to have to play the same players from previous seasons, we will continue to throw in some dire performances. We are moving in the right direction 100%, but we arent as good as I want us to be or as we should be after spending hundreds of millions.
Sums our current situation up perfectly

The games we are losing lately are winners comming late, one v west ham, cup game v man utd, one v Leeds, in a way the 2nd goal which was winner for the toon was late [though off course lewin scored last minute], we seem to be acting as though we are happy for the draw and maybe slack off even more-was half expecting it to happen v sheff utd

What annoys me is the constant sideways and back passing.

Infuriating games like today go two up top and boot it forward we dont have the creative players to pass through a side with 10 behind the ball.
I think it’s a lack of quality. There’s always a ball on if they shift it quickly but the players either don’t have the vision or lack the confidence to do it.

Villa players are not better in terms of quality of each individual - no problem going forward - *shrugs*

I’m not sure. Villa have some very tidy players. Grealish is better than any of our CMs and Barkley probably walks into our team. On paper the likes of Gomes and Sigurdsson have quality but we haven’t really seen it in a long time.

well Grealish doing good now, but not once I saw him on the pitch being way below average, though can't agree more about those two of ours.
still in general, if we look at AV the whole squad is comparable with any other solid average team

that speaks for itself

can't agree on that, I still think we were even

DCL is not a creator at all, he is a finisher and desperate for good delivery

fair enough and was so 2 weeks ago

guess I'm being a pain in the ass with all praises for Villa, but the difference is striking! do their players earn more? or maybe their club has a fat cat stakeholder to buy more fancy players? and yet they looked sharp, fast and eager for a goal. The mentality is crucial.
Totally agree. DCL don't really create goal scoring opportunities for himself. And he is getting no service at all atm

Kind of performance I hate the most. I can take losing to a better side but hate when the players don't fight for it. Bernard, Sigg, Davies, Richy, Coleman in particular should be embarrassed of what they put out today and they deserved to lose.
